About Twofold Tower
Looming above the apocalyptic wasteland is Twofold Tower – a mysterious, sprawling monolith of a thousand rooms. Enter at your own risk, for inside monsters lurk in the shadows; laws of nature are treated as mere suggestions; and forbidden knowledge is everywhere to be found…
Features:
- Mad Science: Experiment with 100+ distinct game mechanics, including parallel dimensions, time manipulation, modular game rules, monster manoeuvring, and much more…
- Tons of Content: 1000+ handcrafted puzzles across 50+ hours of playtime.
- Quality Over Quantity: There is no "filler" in Twofold Tower, with every puzzle exploring a unique idea.
- Sprawling Exploration: Navigate nonlinear, themed levels, which are connected by hub levels – hiding plenty of secrets, and making it possible to return to a puzzle later if you get stuck.
- Deliberate Problem-Solving: Fully grid- and turn-based gameplay, with a particular focus on outside-the-box thinking, inspired by titles such as Baba Is You, DROD, and Braid.
- Quality of Life: Care has been put into making Twofold Tower comfortable to play, with snappy animations, undo, controller support, and QoL features such as marking tiles on the grid.
- A Great Soundtrack (Used Sparingly): Twofold Tower has a full, original soundtrack, consisting of haunting melodic electronic music – which is unlocked gradually, and only plays when you want it to.
- Level Editor and Sharing: The game comes with a fully featured, built-in level editor, and support for downloading user-made levels.
- Lovingly Handcrafted: Twofold Tower is entirely handcrafted, and is the result of over seven years of development by a single person.
Narrative:
The narrative is an integral part of Twofold Tower, and is made up of three distinct parts:- Dialogue, in which a handful of colourful characters try to come to terms with the world having ended.
- Satirical snippets, which flesh out the broken fantasy world in which the game takes place, written in a style reminiscent of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
- Poetry, largely centred around the perils and limits of reason, and employing a mixture of sincerity and humour.
Goodies:
Every copy of Twofold Tower includes its soundtrack in a lossless format, and three exclusive ebooks:- Thinking About Thinky Games (80+ pages/~30k words): A full-length meditation on puzzle game design, covering both high-level concepts and practicalities.
- There is No Truth (80+ pages/~15k words): Contains most of the prose written for Twofold Tower, alongside developer commentary and other bonus material.
- Self-Contained (60+ pages/~3k words): Contains most of the poetry written for Twofold Tower in the form of a standalone collection.
