About Rocket Jockey
It’s your basic boy meets rocket, boy loses rocket, boy gets dragged along the ground, and crushed against a wall story. You fly around with a super-fast rocket between your legs. You fire cables from your rocket at pylons to turn and to clothesline your opponents (preferably really good friends, who take losing badly).
You knock them off their rockets. You steal their rockets. You plow them over, repeatedly, with their own rockets. Then, you snag them with your cables and you drag them along the ground, bashing them into walls and things. As if this wasn’t already Nirvana, the soundtrack features the legendary surf guitar rockin’ Dick Dale!
Rocket Ball
Croquet, it ain’t. Try latching onto different kinds of balls, some that bounce…others that explode! Heave them into the goal or at other jockeys! All while they try to turn your head into pudding pie!
Rocket Racing
Makes drag racing look like bingo. Rocket around the arena, cutting between pylons, smacking fellow jockeys into the wall and out of the race. All while avoiding oncoming walls. To win, you need a strategy. A twisted, demented, crackbrained, sicko strategy, but a strategy nonetheless!
Rocket War
Last one on a rocket wins! More importantly though, said winner, gets to scream in the losers’ faces. Isn’t that what it’s all about?! Clothesline opponents, drag them along the ground at speeds over 100 MPH, plow them over, torch them with jet exhaust and absolutely crush them against the hood of your rocket! All’s fair in love and war…and we ain’t talkin’ bout’ love! We’re rotten to the core!

I played this game for hours and hours back in the day! The three game modes and the surf-style soundtrack make it so replayable. The comedic sound effects and the clever ways to snag and defeat opponents are top notch!1 found this helpful
For a really old game, it's still a lot of fun, but in terms of content, it does leave a little more to be desired. I played the demo version back then, and it was basically a level of Rocket Race, Rocket War, or Rocket Ball. I mostly played for Rocket War, but I played with that demo until Windows XP said it couldn't run the demo disk designed for Windows 95. Regrettably, the CD-ROM version had the same compatibility issues... It might've been the longest time, but this is a retro gem I generally enjoy playing. It always made me hope that they would do more with the game, but it seemingly fell off the earth instead. In any case, I'm just happy I got to play it again in any form, but considering I wanted it solely for Rocket War, and cleared that in about 2 hours, I'm already looking for my next game. Otherwise, I still enjoyed coming back to the game.
I've waited for this for so long. I've got two physical copies but I hated not being able to share it with people. So glad to finally have it back. Got it running great on SteamDeck using the proton experimental config. The music isn't working. Not sure if that's just a me thing or an everybody thing. I might try it on my PC with the CD inserted. The music is butter but it's not a deal breaker. If it's not just me I'm sure it will get sorted eventually.
This game is worth the purchase for the soundtrack files alone. I played this game a lot when it came out. It runs better now. The game files has the music. I used to put the game CD in my car and listed to the music, It's nice to have it again.
I originally bought this for the nostalgia and assumed it would have aged poorly, but I was pleasantly surprised. If you're unfamiliar with the game, it's like a cross between Road Rash and Rocket League. I'm glad somebody thought to put this on Steam.
