About Rogue Lords

✦ AI summary

Play as the devil commanding a team of legendary evil geniuses through roguelike runs filled with turn-based combat and dynamic events. What sets it apart is your godlike ability to bend the game's rules itself—manipulate health bars, alter status effects, and reshape encounters to crush your enemies and reclaim your dark kingdom.

The first roguelike in which you play as the devil, which means you can change some of the game's rules to your advantage! Run after run, manage your team of famous evil geniuses as they encounter unforeseen events and turn-based combat. Unlock new skills, create powerful synergies and use your powers to turn the situation in your favour at critical moments. Only by collecting ancient artefacts can you finally take your revenge on the Demon Hunters.

A DARK TALE

Weakened from defeat to the forces of good, you fled the world and sought refuge in hell to survive. Decades later, you have returned with your most faithful Disciples to exact revenge on those wretched Demon Hunters. But the world has changed in your absence. Your enemies have become all-powerful, and a new religion – the Sanctua Lumen – has become very influential. It mercilessly hunts down all those who serve you. To reinstate your hold over the world of humans, you must first regain the strength you previously wielded by taking possession of artefacts with legendary power.

CONTROL FAMOUS EVIL GENIUSES

 • Create your team of 3 Disciples from Dracula, the Headless Horsemen, Bloody Mary, the White Lady, Lilith, Hecate, Baron Samedi, and Frankenstein and his Creature.
 • Each Disciple has their own unique story, abilities and gameplay: combine their skills to create devastating synergies, and deal with the mortals that dare stand in your way.
 • Collect souls and exchange them for new skills, upgrades and powerful relics that can strengthen your Disciples.

THE DEVIL PLAYS BY HIS OWN RULES

 • Sacrifice some of your health to control the game interface: nothing will stop you – and certainly not the rules imposed on mortals.
 • Manipulate the health bars of your Disciples and enemies, optimise status effects to suit your fight tactics, open portals on the map, tip the odds in your favour during events… there are many occasions to use your diabolical powers throughout your run.

TAKE BACK YOUR RIGHTFUL PLACE

 • Increase the terror gauge by winning fights and completing interactive events to earn valuable bonuses for your Disciples.
 • Complete each event to your liking to reduce the influence of the Sanctua Lumen, give mortals good reason to fear you, and decide the fate of traitors who have allied themselves with your enemies.
 • Take revenge on the Demon Hunters in epic turn-based fights.

OVERALL: 5/10 This is one of those ANNOYING AF games that exist on the very edge of greatness... with all the right ingredients for genre domination... and then inexplicably the devs decided to call it a day while standing mere feet away from the finish line. What an absolute godddam waste of everybody's time and talent. The game has phenomenal art direction, music, voice acting, and character design. They totally nailed the atmosphere and immersion. Unfortunately...

THIS IS ALL RENDERED MEANINGLESS DUE TO:

1. ABYSMAL BALANCING Even on the easiest difficulty, enemy HP and damage scaling quickly outpace your progression EVERY TIME. You are eventually overwhelmed no matter what you do. The game feels fundamentally unfair and therefore not worth playing. 2. NO BUILD VARIETY To have any chance whatsoever, you MUST spec into massive amounts of life / healing / lifesteal / armor. This means only a small number of skills and relics are auto-picks every time, as every other choice is objectively suboptimal. 3. RNG The above build essentials are scarcely to be found anywhere in sufficient quantities, and on top …

Excellent. This is a very different flavor of roguelike, and it does all the elements superbly. Negative reviews kept me from buying this for years, and now that I got it on sale (at 3$), I can see how they are wrong (or devs fixed the issues from 2021 in 2026). This game is not Slay the Spire, where you have to avoid damage, here you can take a hit for 100 hp on a minion with 20 hp, which brings the minion into the "vulnerable" state. The minion can still fight, but can not take more damage - it will be dealt to your main HP/Mana pool (that red orb in top left). You got 3 minions, thus 6 hp pools, and the game is 95% deterministic - you know that enemies will not hit your vulnerable minions if they don't have an attack intention. Once you grasp this, the game is well balanced with the exception of 2 specific elite fights, which are annoying the first time you see them, but are manageable after that. Bringing up a team of 3 wimps to godlike status over 7 chapters feels satisfying. Some combinations are very weak early on and depend heavily on getting the correct relics. The starting Trio ( Dracula + Headless Horseman + Bloody Mary) specced in hp damage is a bit weak, spirit dam…

I like the game. Its addicting. But more of a bad habbit kind of way. Its fun but the random unbalanced regular battle that will destroy a run and other frustrations make it not worth the time. Definitely not money. Sorry

Candyland for Dracula. Witty humor. Fun combat built on classic stack mechanics. Worthy art characterization and voice overs. Its a game about the devil, the fictional/real life devil of humanity. It's a game to play and Lose at.

Honestly, pretty damn cool. Unfortunately, the language on skills is not very clear so how things works can be very hard to understand at times, coupled with the insane amount of status effects that can be going on at the same time. More importantly, I only played the tutorial and the first act (and beat it to completion) and that took me 2.7 hours? Yeah no thanks, a run is waaaaaaaay too long which makes it feel exhausting to get through. Great voice acting, nice art, good mechanics. I just can't deal with the length of a run.

I love the setting, characters, abilities. But as a lot of people have already said - the game is too punishing. I don't remember if I finished it but I had a certain amount of fun
