About Rome in a Day
The armies of Rome will be here in a day's time! Fight to the bitter end and make the Germanic tribes proud.
Rome In A Day is a throwback to the early 2000s RTS games that we all grew up playing. The year is 100 B.C. nearing the end of the Cimbrian War. You play as a Germanic tribe who just received word from a scout that all of Rome is coming down on your village. You only have a day to prepare, so build as fast as you can; once nightfall comes, all hell breaks loose. Build, improve, and defend yourself from a never ending onslaught of Roman soldiers and battlements. Manage your resources and command a barbarian army of unique troop types, including bears bred for maiming men. Is Tyr on your side? Will Odin write your name in The Hall of The Dead?Featuring two game modes
One Long Night: Build for a day and defend all night. In this mode the night is eternal and the onslaught never ends. How long can you survive? Wave of Rome: Build over many days, and each night Rome will descend on your village. Each night grows longer and each wave of Roman soldiers becomes increasingly difficult.Leaderboards
Fight like hell to get to the top of the leaderboards. Fight even harder to stay there.Key Mechanics
- Place structures near specific resource tiles and upgrade buildings to improve their resource output
- Generate armies while managing your resources, place soldiers to defend key positions and build defensive structures
- Send in the troops!

A simple yet well-made game. Submitted as a game jam submission, the Chudsoft team tuned this title up and enhanced it's balance and UX features for this full release. It can be quite challenging, but I've seen some crazy leaderboard records so I'll take that as a skill issue on my part. The concept of a short-burst RTS is a very cool one and I hope to see a sequel, spiritual or otherwise, in the near future.1 found this helpful
Honestly pretty great. It reminds me of the stylized look of Age of Empires 2 Classic and the resource management is fast and intuitive; nothing overcomplicated. The progression is nice, with the point of creating your army and surviving the harsh day and night. I would recommend this game exactly to those people that grew up with RTS of civilization development yet dont want to have the headache of learning an extremely complex and memory taxing progression tree. Overall pretty fun for any fan of RTS civilization game that just wants to relax and have a quick good time.1 found this helpful
So I've been hearing about games like this and this game specifically is a throwback to early 2000s real time strategy games. However, I personally don't have much experience in playing them as they differ from what I usually go for. This was actually my first time trying one out and it gave me some insight into the essence of this subgenre and what keeps its fans so hooked. In this game, you are placing structures to generate resources, and then manage those resources into generating armies, placing defensive walls and setting mines ensuring the defense of your territory. All within the time limit. Despite the game focusing on strategic planning, resource management and combat; paired with green fields, ancient Roman architecture and banger soundtrack, it offers quite a relaxing and chill atmospheric gameplay, which is personally my favourite aspect of this game.1 found this helpful
