What Steam players say

Players overwhelmingly criticize this VR shooter for poor fundamental mechanics, including weak gun gameplay, bad controls, and overly simple AI, alongside technical issues like distracting visual glitches and levels that don't properly end. The general consensus is that the game feels unfinished and overpriced for what's offered, with most reviewers recommending against purchasing it even at discount prices. A small minority appreciate its atmospheric sci-fi horror setting, but this is vastly outweighed by complaints about the core gameplay experience.
Jesus, this is a pile of ♥♥♥♥ left in a paper bag on fire at the doorstep of Steams let any VR game through policy. Just so, so, so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bad and I received in a bundle so the game worked out at 35 cents and I have not felt this ripped off since I gave a couple of dollars to a homeless man and I saw him buy food with it instead of more alcohol. If you paid $5.00 for this then I feel your pain, refund it and let steam know that these ♥♥♥♥ games are not doing VR any favours.12 found this helpful
- Bad Controls - Bad Sound - Levels don't ever actually end - Guns feel extremely weak - They charge for this experience 0/5 They try to make something decent, but fail horrendously at it. The light is always reflecting off of everything annoyingly into your eyes. I mean EVERYTHING even your hands. The guns shoot as though you're shooting a Nerf gun and the enemies are feeling bad enough for you that they feign their own deaths. Even if it were free I'd avoid it. Salvage Op is an atmospheric virtual reality science-fiction horror shooter that captures the raw experimental energy of early indie VR development while delivering a tense exploration-focused survival experience set aboard abandoned spacecraft infested with hostile alien creatures. Developed and published by D.W.S., the game feels like a project built around one primary goal: immersing players inside dangerous industrial sci-fi environments where isolation, darkness, and uncertainty become just as threatening as the enemies themselves. Rather than attempting to compete with large-scale VR action games through cinematic storytelling or advanced technical complexity, Salvage Op focuses on creating tension through environmental immersion and physical presence. The result is a rough but strangely compelling VR horror experience that succeeds more through atmosphere and mood than polished mechanics or narrative depth. While the game clearly shows the limitations of a low-budget indie project, there is still something memorable about the way it uses virtual reality to amplify fear, claustrophobia, and vulnerability. The premise places players in the role of a salvage operative tasked w…1 found this helpful
