I dig the game's general presentation, with a cool style of the visuals, nice art in the menus and the character selection and so on, but ultimately the core gameplay is just a bit basic and unimpressive. Even after several mid-run and permanent upgrades it feels pretty slow, your character rarely ever feels like a killing machine (a power creep that makes bullet heavens so addictive), and with enemies spawning sparsely and moving slowly you never really feel like truly doing crowd control, more like trying to adapt in a much less fun manner. It's... decent, don't get me wrong, but there's not a lot that stands out. One peculiar aspect, however, is in the RPG-esque upgrade system, that allows players to distribute stat points and bonuses on top of the usual weapon/perk cycle that you see in every such game. That is a pretty fun and deep system, one that can definitely serve as the foundation of the project going forward, as I expect to see various improvements in the future. Because, indeed, as of now there's only 3 very similar sword-based characters and only a single stage to play on, so more content is surely needed to get there. I picked this up cheap a while back. I often can enjoy "bad" games. But with this, the reviews and score are on the money that I had no choice but to make a collection just for games that can close to it: Trash Games.1 found this helpful
