- Over 3.000.000 chess puzzles -
One playthrough of a map contains 54 different chess puzzles which differ in difficulty from mate in 1 to mate in 4. But every time you start a new run, you get 54 new puzzles out of the big pool of 3.000.000 puzzles.
- Scalable AI -
Schachkampf uses stockfish AI and you can choose between 100 levels of difficulty. On level 1 even an absolute beginner can get a win, but on level 100 not even a pro player could beat the game.
- 12 different boards to play on -
You have 12 handcrafted boards to unlock and play on, all in the style of 90s JRPGs. The levels differ from cozy woods or small towns up to icy woods.
- Local multiplayer -
If you have friends in real life you can play against them locally. If you don’t, you can still play with remote connect against your virtual friends.
- 12 different starting variations -
If you want some extra challenge you can unlock up to 12 different starting variations for your chess game. Each of them will lead to different strategies and tactics.
- Play in classic chess view or in a sideways view -
You can choose in which direction the pieces can move. If you have chess experience you can play bottom up, like you are used to. When you are new to chess, you can play from left to right, like in other turn based tactics games.
- Classic chess overlay -
If you come from a chess background and you are not sure which of the soldiers is which chess piece, you can activate a chess overlay which helps you right away.

I just installed it, played the tutorial. Game UI can still be improved, but looks and feels like cozy little fun game :) Most fun part was I can use my laptop touch screen, wish this game was available on mobile.3 found this helpful
This is an really cute take on chess (and yes it's *just* classic chess, but with a pixel art JRPG theme + epic music) . It does also have some enjoyable chess brainteasers which work as a standalone puzzle game but also teach a bit of chess strategy. I played on a touch screen PC and it works great without ever having to resort to mouse or keyboard input. I do kind of wish there were some choices for the piece designs - except for the king/queen all are unrecognizable at least to my american eyes. But that's a small quibble & perhaps it's too much to ask for a true JRPG theme that also is reminiscent of classic chess. You can superimpose outlines of traditional chess pieces if you ever get completely lost, though it removes 100% of the visual charm.3 found this helpful

Ow , what a refreshing new style of creating a new kind of Chess . The best point first , u can play it anytime , if u got 10mins left or 1h . U don't need to grind , just start and playing. The Artstyle is classic 2D , I like it , it reminds me of old day gaming . The background music is just simple to my likings , and don't annoying me . The animations of the characters is great , not a overflowing brain damage, and not a boring little slash . This game , is for the young and old , and for everyone , who like to casual gaming , and don't need competitive modes . Just one critical point , can't skip the start animations , and have to w8 2-3 seconds . 7 out of 101 found this helpful
