more of an expansion pack than its own thing, even though these days it costs more than the original (10 eur vs. 5). much to my surprise, I enjoyed this more than the first one, even though I'm not one for tower defense-like gameplay. on half the levels here you're stuck in a room, ward off waves of enemies, but shorter stages make the save system more tolerable (the first game has big-ass maps with no checkpoints) and the story switches between multiple characters with their own point of view and weapons. I liked the flamethrower guy the most.5 found this helpful
Even so, the shooting part feels better; the rest of the game feels worse for me, especially after playing Shadowgrounds just before this game. The constant we put you in a tiny room and swarm you with enemies just makes no fun. What annoyed me too was what was rare in the predecessor: we spawn enemies behind you in rooms you just cleared. The story was okay in addition to Shadowgrounds, but it feels worse for me in all aspects except the shooting part because you now have more ammunition for your weapons. Short, if it was part of Shadowgrounds, it would be an okay bonus, but as a separate game with a bigger price tag, it just feels worse. I would say just buy Shadowgrounds and forget this exists.2 found this helpful
The game feels clunky and outdated, with repetitive missions and lackluster graphics, making it boring after a short while.2 found this helpful
While I enjoyed my 5 hours playing it, I find it hard to recommend this game to anyone. If you played Shadowgrounds, and didnt like it, you likely wont like this one as well. It is sliiightly better gameplay vise, because I think some AI got improved slightly, enemy placement were harder to fight off, but that could be because I played on hard difficulty this time instead of normal. If you DID like Shadowgrounds, you might be disappointed by how short it is(yes, 5 hours is the whole singleplayer story, theres a few survival maps but I didnt bother with them, since thats not why I liked original shadowgrounds) And while there was slight improvements in gameplay, there are some downsides too. Like how now you cant use all your weapons from the original game, because some guns didnt make transition into this game(like lightning gun, laser, grenade launcher), and remaining guns that did make the cut(pistol, pulse rifle, flamethrower, shotgun, minigun, rocket launcher, energy sniper rifle) all are divided between 3 playable characters. Two of these characters use pistol, so just like in original game, you'll get bored of using pistol a ton. But this time you WILL be forced to use …1 found this helpful
Short, but fun top-down shooter. It is a standalone DLC for Shadowgrounds, so you should play that first. I don't see why this is just mixed, and Shadowgrounds is very positive. I think both are equally good and cheap1 found this helpful
Very good Top Down Shooter , Good Graphics and the feature of switching characters was a good idea.
