Shift 87

1-hour, boring game about nothing. Do not play, do not pay. Not recommended. 3/10

I picked up Shift 87 for $2.50 on sale, and can say it's worth it's current full price of $5.00. The levels are are well-crafted, atmospheric, liminal, and plenty creepy enough to satisfy what I was looking for in a game. I would not say that any of the anomalies I've seen where very subtle, however, so if you are looking for difficulty this game might not meet your expectations. That said I only played through once, and haven't seen all the anomalies yet. Maybe they start out going easy on you and expect you to play through again. Feel free to comment if this is the case. Regardless, it did what was advertised and I absolutely enjoyed the experience. I was creeped out a couple times, and enjoyed the diversity of the levels as they sort of collapsed. The lighting and visuals were also quite impressive for a five dollar title. Good work Pixelsplit, I'll be keeping an eye out for more of your work in this style if it exists.

Shift 87 is my first ever anomaly hunt game, and I absolutely loved it! The game itself is spooky with all of the various anomalies, but it's also got some humor, too (for those in the know: Post-Its). The anomalies vary from obvious to very subtle and it's so much fun trying to note them all. Unless you scare incredibly easily, this game is more atmospheric and keeps you on the edge of your seat without causing jump scare panic. There is a degree of frustration when you're making your way through a loop, realize you missed something, and have to start again. But on the flip side, there is a sense of achievement when you beat the loop and move on to the next level. I wish there had been a little more backstory, but even as just a creepy anomaly search, Shift 87 is worth the purchase for those with keen eyes and a love for all things weird.

This is easily one of the stronger contenders within the anomaly-finding genre that I've played. The clever blend of SCP-inspired weirdness and sharp salarypunk corporate vibes (especially in the first level) sets it apart, giving it a unique identity that feels fresh and memorable among a sea of nigh-identical games. The anomalies themselves are often challenging— especially the ones in the factory level. That being said, they're difficult in all the right ways without ever crossing the line into frustrating or tedious. Every successful detection feels like a real win - speaking of which, the cassette futurist design of the anomaly-detecting device is *chef's kiss* pitch perfect! I also love that there's clearly some deeper hidden lore and narrative bubbling under the surface (at least i hope so...). I'm genuinely intrigued and looking forward to piecing more of it together. The whole concept of working as a regular employee for a shady company whose entire job is spotting reality-splitting anomalies is derivative (SCP/Control) but used to excellent effect in this particular case. Furthermore, It’s such a strong, expandable framework — this could easily carry a full-length game…

A really fun anomaly game - I like that each map only has a short loop before moving onto the next, and I like that the anomalies aren’t super sneaky and tedious.
