I've been spending quite a bit of time with this game on Treasure Trove, but I felt the need to purchase it separately in order to write this review. Shovel Knight: Showdown is genuinely one of the worst experiences I've had playing a video game. It has the depth and balancing of a 2008 Newgrounds fighter and is an embarrassment to the Shovel Knight brand. As a decade long fan of the series I genuinely cannot express my disappointment enough. Any excitement from being able to play against friends as unique NPC characters is overwhelming dampened by the games lackluster controls and nonsensical game design. I wish Yacht Club well but after King of Cards launched it feels as if the teams quality standards have started to decline. To go from such all encompassing, creatively designed DLC's to..... this is genuinely baffling.4 found this helpful
if you are going to buy a shovel knight game, i recommend this one first (unless you want all of them, get Treasure Trove) This game gives the feel of each playable character and even others. great couch co op game aswell.2 found this helpful
