I really wish Yacht Club would just make a proper sequel instead of derping about making these mediocre spinoffs.
It’s a puzzle game, not a great one either. It’s just okay and I think on that alone, it’s hard to recommend. Shovel Knight is so good, that I have to wonder what this fictitious character did to deserve being dropped into sub par miss after sub par miss. Presentation is great, look is great, music is great, but at the end of the day…it’s just middling gameplay wise at best.

[h1]Great, with a few drawbacks...[/h1] Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon is a very good game, with creative gameplay and nice visuals; however, it's far from perfect. While the issues with this game haven't bothered me to the point where I decided not to buy it, it's good to know what you're getting into. [h2]Roguelike, NOT roguelite[/h2] While it's not a negative aspect of the game in my opinion, something that tends to deter people away, not just from this game, but in general, is the fact that this is a roguelike, not a roguelite. A common misconception, however, these are two separate things. In a rogueLITE, which is what most people would expect, you generally lose all the items that you obtained in your run, while keeping some sort of thing that can make you stronger for following runs, like XP to upgrade your character or some sort of permanent item. In a rogueLIKE, you lose absolutely everything, meaning your first run would be the same as your millionth. A disinterest towards roguelikes is becoming normal, so ensure you're okay with losing everything. [h2]Far too expensive[/h2] This is my opinion, but the game is NOT worth 20 dollars! This is easily a 5-10…
Unironically more fun than sexual intercourse, so far.
I mean its not an horrible game or anything but its such a falloff from the original shovel knight and also "pocket dungeon" has to be one of the dumbest, worst names ever chosen not just for a videogame but for any kind of media in general. legitimately what a bafflingly dumb name.
