Silliards

Short free game that consists of various "minigames" that resolve around billiard, like for example, hitting pedestrians or racing other balls by taking constant shots. It's alright, took me less than an hour to beat and the concept is silly, so I'll rate positive, but you won't miss out on anything unique by not playing it.

I was lucky enough to try an in-person demo before the game released, so I'm glad I came back for more! This is a silly little game seemingly inspired by "What the Golf?", except it's about billiards, and it was delightful. I loved the little 'aha' moments after you figure out what the gimmick is for each level. Overall, it was short but sweet!

Silliards takes the familiar fundamentals of billiards and reshapes them into a playful 3D physics adventure where traditional rules are far less important than experimentation. Developed and published by Soup Mode LLC, the game is built around the idea that pool can become something much stranger once it escapes the boundaries of an ordinary table. Instead of presenting a serious simulation, it uses billiard balls, momentum, unusual environments, platforming concepts, and exaggerated physics to create a collection of compact challenges. The result is an intentionally unconventional experience that feels closer to a physics puzzle adventure than a conventional sports game. The story provides an appropriately ridiculous explanation for everything that follows. Players enter the imagination of Billiam Eugene Yards, or Bill E. Yards, an exceptional billiards player who has reached a frustrating slump despite his supposed mastery of the sport. Seeking a solution, he retreats to his dojo and meditates in pursuit of the mysterious Billiards Nirvana. Incredibly entertaining

If there's anything to say about Silliards, is that it's fun. It's a silly billiards game about Bill his path to ball-lightenment, and on the way, we, the player get brought into the world of silliards. The game is just the right amount of silly and doesn't take itself too seriously. Now, what kinda nerd would waste their time playing this in it's entirety in one session instead of quick bursts? Uh. Me. That's how fun it is! The thing about Silliards is that it's a journey as well as a game. We progress and the levels (occasionally) get harder, and we enjoy the game more and more. However, if you don't like a level, you can just skip it. It has it's fair set of challenges, but what game doesn't? This game is a lovely love letter to all things silly and billiards. I find myself playing billiards just randomly on my phone with people. I played a lot of games that were either basically the worst version of billiards out there - Or just the same old billiards game. It's more than refreshing to spend two hours and ten minutes or so of my time just having fun on a almost wario-ware like game that also includes one of my favorite games to play on my phone.
