About Simulation Simulator

Simulation Simulator is a freeform conversation game where you debate the nature of reality with your AI-powered best friend around a campfire in the woods. You just took DMT for the first time. An entity spoke to you during the trip -- it said your life is a simulation. Now you're back, sitting across the fire from Bingus, your sober, skeptical best friend. It's up to you where to take it next.Talk freely. There are no dialogue trees. EVERY CONVERSATION IS UNIQUE. Type whatever you want. Bingus responds dynamically using a local AI model that runs entirely on your machine -- no internet connection or cloud API required.Find the cracks. The world is full of anomalies hiding in plain sight: names that sound madeup, a factory job nobody can describe, a fire that loops perfectly, stars that look painted on, a radio that only plays one band. Notice them. Point them out. Watch Bingus try to explain them away.Push toward an ending. Your conversation has real stakes. Build trust or destroy it. Apply pressure or be gentle. Depending on how you play, Bingus might accept the truth, shut you out, confess something he shouldn't know, reach for the pipe, or tell you something he's kept hidden for years.Five endings. One secret. Complete all five endings to unlock a hidden mode where Bingus remembers everything -- every past conversation, every shutdown, every confession -- and has questions of his own.⚠ PLEASE READ BEFORE PLAYING / REVIEWING ⚠ This is more of a philosophy / tech experiment than a traditional game: an attempt to put a real language model inside a chat simulator in a way that still feels like gameplay: with a story, characters that change over time, and endings to discover. The AI runs entirely on your machine. Nothing is sent to the cloud. That's the whole point — and it's also why your hardware dramatically affects the experience. On a machine that meets the recommended specs, responses arrive in a few seconds. On weaker hardware, they get slower. Below the minimum specs, expect 20+ seconds per response. Genuinely not fun, and I'd honestly rather you not buy it than have that experience unless you're just interested in the tech.Short version: the better your computer, the better this game gets. If you're under the minimum specs, please don't play this one. IT WON'T WORK!Features:
  • Fully freeform text input -- no dialogue trees, no pre-written choices
  • Local AI (Llama 3.1) runs entirely offline -- bundled with the game, no account or internet needed
  • Dynamic trust, pressure, conviction, and romance systems that shape every conversation
  • 15+ discoverable world anomalies with layered rebuttals
  • 5 distinct endings plus a secret meta-narrative mode
  • Procedural synth voice that gives Bingus a unique sound
  • Interactive campfire environment with radio, beer, and ambient anomalies
  • Low-poly aesthetic with post-processing effects (tilt-shift, edge detection, psychedelic shaders)
  • Every playthrough is different -- the AI never gives the same responses twice. Theoretically this game is endless.

“Who are you friend? Your face is so clear and bright, your manner is awesome and serene. Surely you must have discovered some great truth – who is your teacher, friend and what is it that you have discovered?” The newly-awakened Buddha replied: “I am an Alltranscender, an All-knower. I have no teacher. In all the world I alone am fully enlightened. There is none who taught me this – I came to it through my own efforts.” “Do you mean to say that you claim to have won victory over birth and death?” “Indeed friend I am a Victorious One; and now, in this world of the spiritually blind, I go to Benares to beat the drum of Deathlessness.” “Well, good for you friend,” said Upaka and, shaking his head as he went, he left by a different path.

Just got my first ending and I cant wait to get more. For a concept it is an amazing game. Simple to play and a great demonstration of the tech. I can't wait to see how this game grows and how it is implemented in other games. This is exactly how AI should be used in games.

So -- to my mind, this is the start of something big. I think this is the start of what will grow to be a new genre (and likely more) in time. Give this little thing a try, and while you're playing try to think through the implications. What might a Mass Effect 6 look like years down the line when LLMs are working hard to make *conversations* and NPC *cognition* run with the fidelity we can get from graphics and physics. Wild times ahead!

Same bug as others wrote. I don't see the text I write and bot responds only with "Hmm" and "I...." again and again. Idea is incredible yet realisation is... okay

My first playthru was kinda fun. However, the second playthru, the AI Bingus decided to turn into a creepy-ass stalker and sexual harasser who would not listen to "NO". The moment I said I was a woman (after the AI claimed to be "gay" and that it had a "crush" on me), it immediately started pushing for "romance" despite my clear "NO. You're being a creep.," I finally just hard-quit when the AI would not shut up and wouldn't listen to a clear "NO". Way to go, devs. You've programmed a "nice guy" loser & sexual harasser AI.

Update: I no longer have the problems I detailed below. Convinced the little tv-head-man in like five minutes. So I'm going to try some other tactics and see what shakes out. Quite fun! Thanks to the developer for responding so quickly. I didn't see the notification that you commented until today. Cheers! This started out interesting but it didn't take much for the game to get stuck on a response. I tried twice. First time I brought up the Dunning-Kruger effect and it just sat thinking for over a minute. I closed the game and went back in, this time I kept my words and my questions simplistic; still ran into a wall with it being unable to reply for several minutes before I gave up and closed it. Good thing it was a free game.
