Sky Rogue

I wish there were more arcade flight combat games like this, they're so much fun. also being able to play coop is great.

I had this game for years and never really played it much, but recently I got a T.16000 and was trying to find games to just test it out on and I remembered this game from my library. I was surprised that this old-ish little indie game supported my flight stick at all though the only unfortunate part is it doesn't support my throttle mapping, but kb+stick is still nice. Anyways as for the game itself it's pretty simple and arcade-like but it's great. You have a decent amount of options for gatling guns, missles, bombs, and utilities such as flares or boosts, as well as a good variety of aircrafts that offer different weights and stats. The gameplay is pretty simple, you are launched into a randomly generated area with some islands. You have a main objective which is usually non-threatening like destroy a large aircraft, destroy a satelitte, just basically things that won't shoot back at you. There is a decent amount of hazards created with the stage like airborne and grounded hangers launching enemy aircrafts at you, anti air cannons on the ground, the things you would usually expect. Very tough game

Classic arcade flightsim shootemup. A little sad as some planes just don't feel as good as others (mobility is king), but you can still have fun swapping to them once you've wiped the sky of threats

This game is really fun! Think After Burner with Virtua Fighter 1's level of graphics, but is melds so well. I'm not very good so far, but I'm having a blast repeating the "Temperate Islands" (the beginner levels). You can play with mouse and keyboard, joystick, or controller, and it works well either way; lot of customization for the joystick too, which is nice. My one nitpick is that players can't change key-binds mid-mission. You have to exit to the main screen and then change the keys that you want. There is a flight option called "Free flight" that could be useful as a tutorial/sandbox while figuring out the controls (you won't be gunned down while figuring out which button does what). You can have a first person cockpit view as well. Do a barrel roll!
