SLEEP AWAKE

Firstly, ignore the steam reported played time. Since this game uses an auto save function with no easy way to see when it last saved, I paused and minimized the game a few times while playing so that I didn’t lose progress. I think total time played was close to 4 hours. Like many games, I wish I could rate this on multiple components rather than a yay or nay scale, but it is what it is. Firstly, I should state I enjoy a wide variety of game types and this includes walking sims. Which is what I would classify this as. I also especially like trippy or psychedelic themes. So this game seemed like it would be a good fit for me. The closest games i can think of that remind me of this one is the Layers of Fear. Like if Panos Cosmatos made a layers of fear game. The pros: Visuals including sets, effects, and lighting. I thought the visual style, although near realism, was still a little bit unique and not generic. The settings were pretty good. Heavily artistic and lynchian experience that brings some interesting ideas to the table, but among other renowned "walking simulators" (Stanley Parable, What remains of Edith Finch) it appears rather bland. Puzzles ain't hard, spooks are scarce but music and atmosphere did scare my girlfriend so yeah, it is oke

Weird, psychedelic, and wildly imaginative. Gameplay is simple, with just a few basic puzzles and stealth sections - but visuals and atmosphere make up for it.

Yes, the game is short. But it's not a bug, it's a feature. Take the free afternoon, start the game, you'll be finished by the night. Or play into early hours of the morning. Do it in one sitting. The game is a good mind ƒųcḳ. Short, pshychological, psychodelic, surreal walking simmulator with some horror elements, which will keep you wandering "the hell is going on?" If you are a "gamer boy", who loves staring at a branching skill tree for hours to optimize the build, or holds a chronometer in hand to count millisecons at boss attack animations to memorize them, don't buy Sleep Awake and them taint the feedback with "ew, this game is not good". But if you like some fresh, short experiences in between big games, this is an excellent time spender. And good soundrack!
