Snowday

Snowday is an Early Access free to play VR game that lets you have multiplayer snowball fights. It worked on my HTC Vive system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. The VR movement mode is teleport by throwing a ball. Has a tutorial. The devs are not developing it further, moved on, and they made it Free and Open Source code. Good arm throwing practice. Nobody is playing this. CONS: Not working correctly with Index controllers, the hand models are reversed and grabbing a snowball not working. Try this game, you might like it.

"Snowday" is an abandoned Early Access VR exclusive tech demo where you wave your arms around in VR to pretend you're throwing snowballs around. The developers abandoned this 8 years and 3 months ago. It will never be completed. This unfinished game is just polluting Steam and making it harder for gamers to find genuinely, completely made games. The graphics aren't great... that will understandably be a turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You deserve better than compromises. It's VR exclusive, and that shows the developer failed to understand the most basic axiom of VR game design... if the only cool thing about your product is VR support, your product is not cool. You're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality product, this comes across more as a delusion of grandeur than anything else. Игра 'Snowday' – это неожиданно захватывающий и динамичный шутер от третьего лица, где снежки заменяют пули. Идея гениальна в своей простоте: бегаешь по школе, кидаешься снежками, улучшаешь свои навыки и оружие. Графика довольно приятная, хоть и мультяшная, но это только добавляет шарма. Особенно радует разнообразие "снежного" арсенала: от обычной катапульты до замораживающих бомб. Геймплей быстрый и напряженный, с постоянными перебежками и уклонениями. Улучшения персонажа и апгрейды оружия позволяют экспериментировать со стилем игры. Бои против боссов – отдельное удовольствие, требующее тактики и слаженной командной работы (если играете с друзьями). Однако, есть и небольшие минусы. Иногда попадаются повторяющиеся локации, а сюжет довольно простой. Но несмотря на это, 'Snowday' - прекрасный способ весело провести время, особенно в компании друзей. Рекомендую всем, кто ищет что-то легкое, динамичное и просто приятное. Захватывающие снежные бои и тонна фана гарантированы!
