So Many Cubes from exagongames is built around a concept that is immediately eye-catching in its simplicity and absurdity: a battlefield populated entirely by cubes, each acting as a semi-autonomous unit in a chaotic struggle to destroy a central target known as the Mothercube. On paper, it presents itself as a hybrid between real-time strategy and physics sandbox, where players deploy different cube types and watch as they interact, collide, and unleash various effects. So Many Cubes has an interesting concept that I wanted to enjoy, but the execution falls flat in almost every way. Once you figure out that spamming the minigun is the only viable strategy, any illusion of depth disappears entirely — the random-firing units are basically useless, and the currency/cooldown system is opaque and frustrating since prices are never clearly displayed. The broken achievements are just salt in the wound, and given that this is an abandoned Early Access title with no signs of developer activity, none of these issues are ever getting fixed. Grab the trading cards if you got it in a bundle, then move on.
