A nice game with Japanese voice acting and good design. Puzzles are a bit challenging though and the only issue that I remember was the writing in blood red on the walls being Japanese with no translation for English speakers. Game is a library sim for the most part too and the story is a tad bit silly since without spoiling too much it involves someone wanting to steal your eyeball like its orochimaru from Naruto wanting the sharingan lul. I wish the story was a bit more fleshed out since at least for me it was very hard to tell what's up between those to chicks and who to trust maybe I missed it but overall I enjoyed it https://youtu.be/OmJMA0wPsIQ3 found this helpful
From "Librarian Simulator" to "What is going on" to "What is this question" to "Damn, I'm smart" to "This Puzzle is Dumb" to "Oh wait, I am dumb" to a roller coaster of emotions

The Mundane Before the Madness
The game kicks off as a straight-up librarian simulator. You're chasing students out after hours, putting books back where they belong, sweeping floors—pretty basic stuff. But that's the point. It sets the whole vibe and locks you into this school atmosphere before things get sussy.
Stranger Things Get Strange, huh
As days go by, you got more librarian duty and more unnatural events start unfolding. The game slowly reveals the mystery and lore around your character, and honestly? It's compelling. You want to know what's going on.
Unexpected Popularity Arc
The game has two characters. definitely the highlight of the game for me—Yui and Yamashita—who actually want to be your friend. It's a nice touch that lets you experience what feeling popular is like, even if it's just in a creepy school library game. I would like a plushie of both of them as merchandise one day. For being such a short horror title, I really enjoyed this game. Puzzles were interesting but not overly difficult. Character voices were rather well done as well. The 2D cutscenes had some really good art, even if in game character models were a bit lacking. The biggest thing I liked was the fact that you do not have to play through the game to get the different endings, the chapter select was a nice touch in such a short game. I did have some confusion with the plot points but not enough to make a huge difference to my enjoyment. Well worth the couple dollars for a fun time!1 found this helpful
In short, Solitary in the Library is a short and sweet horror game that takes around an hour to complete. With a cleverly designed plot that will have you doing few more playthroughs just to understand everything. The price tag being around $3 USD, this is a steal or an entry level horror game for anyone who wants to start out. In long and SPOILER warning, there's 5 days in the game where more or less you will be doing the same thing, but each day something different happens until day 5 where everything collapse in onto 1 of the 3 endings in the game. The gameplay loop is very simple: You pick things up, put them in places in order to progress. There are puzzles throughout the game, and there's only one that I never really like which is the 8-puzzle in the safe (but also thanks to the game, I developed a personal strategy to work on the puzzle in the future.). There's also a chase scene, but that's about it. The environmental detail is also really good, to the point it felt like I am actually a student in a school in Japan working as a librarian, a civilian going to a Japanese convenient store, as well as a Japanese teenager living in a Japanese home. The game is short, but the …1 found this helpful
A horror walking sim focused on story. Very good atmosphere, okay visuals and music, pretty good 2d art and voice acting. The story has a lot of good moments, but as a whole doesn't really make much sense, plus some seemingly important things remain unexplained (the box, the letters, the coins?), at least in the two endings I reached. Speaking of, the choices that change the ending are too trivial, and the endings themselves too similar - literally just an additional cutscene after the normal ending. That said, it's a fun game, and very cheap, too.
Objectively:
7.8/101 found this helpful
