About Sound Horizons
Sound Horizons is a minimalist yet challenging rhythm game where you make one with music. Its generative soundtrack changes along your progression and reshape the world as you play. The melodies are always random, your only option to adapt is by getting in the rhythm. Succeeds enough, and you might see the end of your journey.
- Intuitive controls with four buttons, offering a quick learning curve so that you can test your rhythm skills
- Interactive music: every button press adds new notes to the melody
- A Procedural landscape that moves to the beat, for a true synesthetic experience
- An Adaptive difficulty ensures that the challenge is always aligned to your skill, so that you can progress at your own pace
- Additional modes for more challenges and immersive musical experiences

i recommand this game if u wish to snap your keyboard in half
This is gonna be my favorite rhythm game I can tell. The way you're just repeating what you hear moments later, it makes it such a zoning out call and response. I love it!
Overall, it's a pleasant experience if you're good at rhythm games like this! Despite all what I said badly about the game, I don't think I've given it enough time to play and get used to, I still think it's a fun experience for most and it's worth at least trying. Remember to adjust the settings to your preferences! I'm currently looking for examples of procedural audio in games. This game does it pretty okay, though the sound balance by default isn't good for me and after adjusting the audio to my preferences, it made it less difficult. The game's style looks amazing how the mountains develop into a night sky and such, one of my favourite styles in backgrounds is this minimal theme this game has, it looks really nice and honestly I'd love to have it as my wallpaper haha. I love the idea of the game, the concept and execution of it came out really well, the gameplay feels good and it's exactly as I was expecting from what the steampage advertised. The controller integration is great, the pause menu is probably the best I've seen for a rhythm game at how it doesn't stop the music entirely. What was difficult to enjoy however is how punishing this was for missing a note off by 1…
I'm currently doing a challenge to play through a free game in every single category on steam. I then give an honest review using ChatGPT.
Game: 24 / 447 Category: Music-Based Procedural Generation Sound Horizons: A Missed Beat Sound Horizons tries to blend music with procedural generation, but unfortunately, it misses the mark. The controls are awkward and hard to get the hang of, and having notes come at you from the center of a circle is more confusing than fun. When playing, you hear both a note from the game and the note you’re supposed to hit, making the experience feel more like Simon Says than a rhythm game. The problem is, these notes don’t sync up well at all, and the sound clash just doesn’t work. There’s not much depth to the game, either. It feels repetitive and lacking in content, leaving you with little reason to keep playing after the initial curiosity fades. A cool idea, but poorly executed.
