About Space Prison
Welcome to Space Prison, inmate. Surviving is only the first step. To craft a way out, you'll need to navigate the prison hierarchy using social RPG mechanics, tactical combat, and a whole lot of space rats. Can you escape where others have failed?
DEATH IS NOT AN EXCUSE FOR A SHORTER SENTENCE.
Rise up the ranks of a prison gang, with unique alien members who have their own stories and fighting styles. Unlock a gang hideout that will expand your tools and means of escape. Climb up the ranks by fighting your way up the hierarchy to become the new boss.

Fight for your life in fast-paced, tactical turn-based brawls. Use improvised weapons and armour, as well as your skills and allies to successfully explore the facility and avoid becoming another unrecoverable corpse.

There are up to 18 different inmate stories to discover as you gain their respect and build up your squad from adorable space rats to hardened criminals. Doing jobs for them will provide you with much needed intel and materials as well.

Scavenge for scrap, destroy prison property, upgrade your cell - craft illegal tools, weapons and materials to equip you and your squad. Keep contraband concealed to not get caught at security checkpoints.

Dying in Space Prison doesn’t mean you can dodge your life sentence. Should you be taken out, the rogue-lite recovery system will bring you back. However, your mind must be transferred into a new body, perhaps more alien than before. At least your cell is the same, all your hidden contraband exactly where you left it.

I really want to like this game, but the combat is so basic and underwhelming. The sound design could use a bit of work; it lacks a certain punch to it that makes every hit feel empty. The concepts are interesting, like recruiting rats and gang members, but you're telling me in a massive prison there's only two gangs? There's also only three races to pick from, so there just isn't much variety. The art style is very nice, however. I just wish the game had a bit more to it.3 found this helpful

Has some nifty ideas and concepts, though the game is very basic at the end of the day. Once you've done a few days in game you've basically seen all the game has to offer as far as gameplay goes; you get 8 hours every day to do what you want, which are usually spent traveling from one hub to the next. You'll be balancing keeping your health, hunger, and hope up while leveling up your equipment, stations, and rising in the ranks of your chosen gang. I'll get the negative out of the way first. Inventory management has some really neat ideas, namely the contraband system where items with a yellow background are confiscated if you're caught with them in your inventory. You can hide a few items in secret pockets, but the rest will be seen by guards and sensors. This is fine, the only trouble is the storage you do get in the game is woefully inadequate. Your main storage in your cell doesn't offer you much room to keep items, even in the mid game you will find yourself running out of space to keep your stuff and a lot of resource based quests are time sensitive, so you end up hording everything without many uses for them. You can make secret stashes in certain facilities, but even th…
I loved the game and even on Normal difficulty, it's hard as hell. The gameplay is fun and challenging, but for the amount of story you get, it honestly isn't worth all the grinding and sweating in what is supposed to be a singleplayer game. If you're playing mainly for the story, save yourself the trouble and just watch it on YouTube, it'll take about five minutes. That said, I still had a great time with it. 10/10, would absolutely get folded by alien muscle mummies.
Good short game
What a fun little romp. The character designs were unqiue. Each prisoner's little storyline was different. The environments were great, I enjoyed getting to understand the mechanics of each hub. The combat was not complex, and didn't develop into anything, but it served its purpose. I think it achieved what it was aiming to achieve and laid the foundation for future games from this crew to be something truly great. Certainly worth the money.
