About Speak of the Devil I: A Deathly Proposition

Can you imagine staking your very soul just to find love? It's a proposition that most people would find unthinkable. However, our dear friend Michi, driven by sheer desperation, found himself making a fateful decision. In a moment of weakness, he struck a deal with a cunning demon, offering his soul in exchange for the fulfillment of his deepest desires. But as the saying goes, "beware the Devil's bargain." Michi now faces the daunting task of finding a girlfriend within a mere 30 days. Failure to do so will condemn him to an eternity of servitude in the underworld, at the mercy of the demon. Speak of the Devil I: A Deathly Proposition is a kinetic visual novel developed by Husky-Leaf Studios and Sku;Te and published by Husky-Leaf Studios. You take on the role of Michi, a male high school student who's in despair because he wants a girlfriend, seeing that it's close to Valentine's Day. He goes about his daily routine, dealing with his stepsister's (Aiko's) perverted antics and teasing from his childhood friend, Mayu. As he visits a cemetery on a club outing, at the urging of the club president, Sayuri, he finds a book, which he mistakes as one of his textbooks. (The club is a supernatural one that investigates ghosts and such.) However, the book turns out to be anything but an ordinary book, and it actually ends up changing Michi's life forever. However, this is where I'll end my story synopsis, especially seeing that this is a kinetic story and all. ;) As for the gameplay, the story is linear, so there are no choices presented whatsoever. You simply play through the story from beginning to end. There are a total of 20 scenes (which are the equivalent of short chapters) with a few CGs presented, which can be viewed in the Extras section on the Main Menu …

Speak of the Devil 1: A Deathly Proposition is a rather short (if you consider 2 hours short) introduction to the grander story that is about to unfold. You get a good look at each of the characters and their personalities and you have a general idea as to where the story is going. As someone who i not the biggest fan of some of the more "adult scenarios", I will say that they are not subtracting from the experience. I am still excited to see where this story goes and to see more sass from the main girl that you only see at the end!

It should be noted that I did the coding for this. Speak is a a short but entertaining linear visual novel, with some rather lovely CGs and character graphics that occasionally breaks the fourth wall. which is quite amusing. I think the language used is quite appropriate for characters age, and whilst there are a few typographical errors, it doesn't detract from the overall experience. For the price, it's well worth the money/ Hopefully, the series will continue
