Speed 3: Grand Prix

Don't be fooled by the trailer, this game is pretty much a bad-coding fiesta; AI smashing their cars into the walls, game crashing constantly, etc. There's no configuration menu for neither the controls, nor graphics, and there's no challenge whatsoever, just accelerate and you win pretty much every single race. Also, the soundtrack is sooooooo unappealing, I almost fell asleep in some races, and, funny thing, there's no "Quit to desktop" button, incredible. Too expensive for a half-baked game.

This is a bare bones racer that I think could be really fun if the way the AI works was overhauled, but right now the experience is quite dull. It's way too easy to leave the AI in the dust. Because of this, most of the time I found myself alone out front and the only time I got to battle with the other cars was as I was lapping them. There's no difficulty level selection and I'm up to 'Epic league' or something in the tournament, so I don't think it gets any better. The AI could use some rubber banding if it's going to be about combat, so that we can have the AI around us to fight with all the way around. I actually think the graphics are really nice, the lighting in the Japan levels is beautiful and the physics are nice and arcadey.. but with the AI struggling to make it around the track you don't get much of a chance to do what the game is supposed to let you do - destroy stuff! The other thing is needs is a close button (!) .. maybe Speed 4 will work better?

Fun. More fun if it had a steering wheel option. More options the better. A button to exit the game would be a nice add.

Speed 3: Grand Prix is a formula racing game. Speed 3: Grand Prix is one of the lamest racing games I've played. There is your Grand Prix mode, a Time Trial mode, and a Multiplayer mode. I only played the Grand Prix mode because that took forever on its own. It's a regular racing game that has laps, checkpoints, as well as a health bar that when depleted, you crash and will respawn at the last checkpoint reached. The computer players will race alongside you and can also crash. The opposing racers crash constantly and I've seen some stuck in nearly the same position constantly lapping them. The visuals are bland and repetitive. Sometimes it looks like the car you're driving is just hovering above the road and not actually making contact. Also, when your car breaks away with low health, sometimes it'll show you have a missing car and it will continue to drive as if it weren't missing a wheel, which is unrealistic. The audio has music for the courses, which sound alright, and the sound effects are just for the cars and menu. I played this game for way too long just to complete the Grand Prix and got no enjoyment out of it. I can't tell you where Speed and Speed 2 are as they aren't…
