Spellarium

This is a great game. It's not your typical match-3. It requires strategy and planning. The golf-solitaire game is awesome. However, this game requires you be online to play it. I cannot, shall not, and will not ever give a good review to any developer that requires single player games to be online to play! I don't want to hear about security. This is a single player match-3 game! It's not like it's Call of Duty with thousands of players on a server! I don't care if it's about protecting the developers from pirating either. I get it. Some people suck and they pirate games, but you're punishing me by not letting me play this game offline like I prefer because of a few select people that may pirate the game. I paid for it!

"Spellarium" is a great match-3 game with emphasis on minigames (solitaire and find the differences). It runs flawlessly and it will stimulate your brain! A very tricky match-3 with power-ups and unique ways to solve the puzzles. Spellarium is an ancient artifact that transforms the light of the sun into life energy. It has now gone missing and the world is changing for the worst... Can you return the light to the world?.. The levels themselves are hard but leave an impression and above all they are fun. So you will be glad it wasn't a piece of cake that required no thinking and ended in 10 minutes. The visual effects, animations and music will help a lot in keeping you calm and focused on the task at hand. If you are stuck, you can use the hint system, which I find very good, comprehensive and helpful. On top of that, they have added a beautifully crafted grimoire as help. It will keep you busy for hours but without overstaying its welcome and you can always replay it due to its nature. Featuring Relaxed, Timed and Limited modes. Hadn't played this in several years. Nice walk down memory lane playing 100 levels of M3-puzzles. A lot of the gadgets hadn't been created yet with the first Spellarium, so the "puzzle" element is often figuring out where and when to make powerups for blowing up rocks or other obstacles to reach the coins. Also not as many minigames - there are just solitaire and spot the difference scenes, but I actually like that more since you're not getting a minigame every other level. I'd forgotten the original premise of this series was Eric the wizard needing to recover the magic "Spellarium" crystal and restore the balance between all the spiritual elements. It makes for a better storyline than most of the subsequent games, where Eric is simply building new towns or landscapes, or working some unseen "workers" mercilessly. The powerup mechanics and creating powerups is different than in most of the later games, and if you're not good at making really big matches, will be tough to get more than the moving bombs. Some players might find the reappearing green fog annoying. For me though, was pretty easy to finish since it's not as puzzle-y as later games.
