The dark gods have begun preparations to invade the world of Allyon somewhere on the outer limits of the known universe. If left unchecked, billions of lives will be destroyed. You play a sorcerer who, by the will of fate, was thrown into an uncharted world, compelled to stop impending disasters. Just yesterday, as a young magician from the academy, you didn't know anything about the upcoming threat, but suddenly you were swept into the heart of it.

Game features:

At this moment, the game is full of bugs (eg. need zombie to be able to finish the quest, as I wiped them all out, and they just don't respawn anymore, even though they used to, quest with cabbage, I boiled some, so now I don't have enough of them, and new doesn't grow up, many quests are fully bugged which stops game progression...). The game itself has good potential even though it looks like it is from early 2000, but at this moment it is complete waste of money and time especially :]11 found this helpful
It's a surprisingly good game. I couldn't recommend as a full game tho, it's not even remotely completed, but! It can give you plenty of great idea what the original Gothic formula could evolve into too. Especially the grimoir combat is something that I could really appreciate, combining and making spells is always a pleasure, and burning enemies from behind before they could even react is even better. The map design is notable too, that is always an essential for a Gothic game. Sadly development is slow, but it's understandable and hey, it's already a 12-15 hour game, but it is in very early access right now. Absolutely worth a try if you want to see some cool mechanics implemented in the og Gothic formula.1 found this helpful

Like it. is something different
SpellMaster: The Saga is an ambitious indie fantasy RPG developed by Spellbook Creations and published by Valkyrie Initiative that aims squarely at the tradition of classic, systemic role-playing games rather than modern streamlined action titles. From the very beginning, it presents itself as a game driven by exploration, choice, and player agency, inviting you into a large, continuous world that rarely holds your hand. The result is an experience that feels earnest and expansive, filled with ideas and systems that reflect a deep love for old-school RPG design, even when its execution struggles to keep pace with its ambitions. The narrative places you in the role of a young and relatively untested spellcaster who arrives in the troubled land of Allion at a time when dark gods, ancient forces, and political instability threaten to tear the region apart. Rather than relying on heavy cinematic storytelling, the game delivers its plot through quests, environmental storytelling, and interactions with NPCs who follow their own routines. Much of the story unfolds organically as you explore towns, wilderness areas, ruins, and dungeons, creating a sense that the world exists independently…
