I thought the same concept being revisited would be boring, but no it has twists and turns and at the very last fight, you get the most utmost plot twist in your life. Just as the previous one you get deep into the lore of each entity and each of them are in unique settings, like there is a spirit that haunts the offices too. Rather than relying on constant jump scares or action-heavy sequences, it builds its identity around slow-burning dread and the weight of player decisions. Set against the backdrop of 1990s Tokyo, the game follows a troubled protagonist drawn into a series of supernatural incidents, each tied to restless spirits with deeply tragic origins. From the outset, it becomes clear that the experience is as much about understanding these entities as it is about surviving them. The gameplay blends traditional visual novel storytelling with investigative segments that require careful observation and interaction. Players spend much of their time reading dialogue and absorbing narrative details, but progression often hinges on exploring environments, examining clues, and using items in the correct context. 👄 First and foremost, it's still a top-tier for fans of mystical ghost stories. Unlike lame edgy horrors, it manages to be grotesque at the right moments, not just for the shock value. It retains much of the first one's charm, including exploration, puzzles, victory choices, a well-developed atmosphere, beautiful visuals & soundtrack. The characters' roles in the story have been expanded, allowing you to get to know them better. It's very good as a VN, thanks to its concise narrative without unnecessary fluff and well-timed scene changes that constantly maintain interest, but the puzzles aren't perfect. The «Live or Die» mechanic («Crisis Choice» here) remains the same, with the sometimes nonsensical / illogical answers and simple trial-and-error restarts, which detracts from the narrative. The bosses have been simplified, but that's not a bad thing. The puzzles on locations can be.. challenging, as the final step may not have an obvious clue. Otherwise, the spin-off is pretty good, although it does have some minor bugs (which is unfortunate, especially considering the relatively high price of these products in this niche).
