Split Racing is a very small arcade game that mixes racing with shooting, and the idea is actually pretty neat. I am trying to finish each track before the timer runs out while shooting enemy cars and dealing with hazards along the road. Taking down enemies gives me extra time, so the whole thing becomes a race where I am constantly balancing speed, positioning and shooting. I can play by myself or use local two player co op, where one person drives and the other controls the weapons. It is a simple setup, but it gives the game a nice little twist compared with a normal arcade racer. The timer is probably the best part for me. I am not just trying to get around the track as quickly as possible because the enemies are also part of how I stay alive. If I ignore the gun equipped cars, I can run out of time, but slowing down too much to shoot everything can also hurt my run. I like having to make that decision while driving because it gives every section of the track a little more tension. The chasing drones that appear after I hit certain road hazards add another problem as well, since they can stay on me while I am trying to deal with everything else. The shooting itself is very ba…
