About Stapel

The Stapel is a game of your reaction speed. You stack rectangular figures one on top of the other by timely fixation at the moment the figure passes over the previous one. If you do this a little later or earlier, part of the shape will be cut off to match the rest of the shapes. Management is simple, using the mouse. Your goal is to build a high tower of pieces, and your mistakes will bring the narrowing of the building closer and the end of the game. Good luck with your game.

A sad recent trend has been popping up lately - asset flippers taking code found on Github for free and releasing the compiled "game" on Steam for money. To the flippers this is even better than having to pay for an asset from the Unity store. For people like me who hunt asset flippers it's annoying because the assets in question aren't always that easy to identify. Still managed to do it, though, heh ... Anyway, "Stapel" is such an asset flip. It's simply Stack, a very bare bones game someone named telecoda put together to, as they write, learn Unity. They also released it on the Google Play store but it's been removed by now. The code is from 2017 as well so it's likely long been forgotten by the original author. All "Quickbobber" did here was clone the repository and compile it with Unity. No change has been made and so the "game" opens in a 480x800 window as it was apparently designed for rather ancient mobile devices. There's a resolution option in the equally ancient Unity launcher but it's overridden by the game code. The "game" itself is an extremely simple clone of the successful mobile game "Stack" by Ketchapp. There are cou…

Warning: Asset Flip!
Stapel is an asset flip, what Valve calls a "fake game". The "developer", QuickBobber/DIG Games, took the Stack game assets from the real developers, telecoda, changed the name, and dumped the result onto Steam. They're attempting to scam people into buying this, so they can get your money for someone else's work. QuickBobber/DIG Games has shown a repeat pattern of unethically dumping other people's work onto Steam as a cheap, nasty cash grab.
