STAR OCEAN™ - THE LAST HOPE -™ 4K & Full HD Remaster

I dont understand why this game as mixed reviews cause it was an amazing experience. Loved it was not 90% medeival fantasy like previous Star Ocean games. This is the most Star Ocean game, space exploartion, planet hoping to multiple planets and alot of sci-fi. The game is a bit rough around the edges but if you get through the intense amount of grinding, goofy anime dialogue and scenes its a very fun game. The english VAs is a bit questionable but you get used to it. It kind of adds to the charm of the game.

One of the better Star Ocean games if you just allow it to do its thing and can resist some of the cringe dialogue and acting.

The game gets grindy, let me repeat very grindy to level up and no fast travel. JRPG are notorious for this but this game takes grindy to a whole new level. Checking the in game map is a nightmare as there is no way to move through the map manually. This is annoying if you want to check where something is at but cant because the map is locked in place. With no fast travel and needing to go back to base/town for whatever reason you have to walk back through the whole map fighting everything that gets in the way. This creates the illusion of longer gameplay but this is not gameplay. There are no quest markers and sometimes you are wondering around trying to figure out what to do and where to go next. For example I go out to one end of the map thinking this is where I am suppose to go but there is a dead end and realize I need to go to the other side of the map to potentially progress through the campaign. Even with watching the cutscenes and hearing the story progress on what needs to be done the game doesn't have a well developed system to show the players where to go next. I try to liked it. But some how is really annoying. 1. The Tacticals really so annoying, just has few option wich not usefull at all. Like there's no protected the leader, or using only magic healing, or what ever is that. 2. There's no like charather has healing like Rena or Noel on Second Story on these game 3. Too many female charathers on these game. And yeah dont like it 4. The sotry reall fricking anpyying (but kinda sad tought), kinda sillyn and too many cut scene. There's no Action Point on city only on ship only. 5. And more important, when you need creation item really anoying, you must on your ship not outisde, and even that you need CRAFT the item after that not like SO2.

This is a great jrpg that has a spectacular story that grips you in. The story follows Edge Maverick, who becomes captain of a ship by sheer accident and is forced into events far beyond his control. I have completely enjoyed the game at every turn. It does has a very grindy achievement list that will take you upwards of 400-500 hours to complete, but if you are just here for the story, its a great game.
