Do not judge a book by it's cover. This game's appeal is almost impossible to describe. You may think it's another goofy JRPG with shallow mechanics and rote characters, but think again! It's actually an intricate, clockwork puzzle combat machine.... with rote characters! The way the battle system unfolds is seriously rewarding and engrossing. I can't think of a single reference point for this game, no way to compare it or make it make sense to new players, but once you figure it out it absolutely rules. Everything about the game is a puzzle; the way you navigate the world, the way you build your weapons, the way you attack and move around the battlefield. If you're looking for something different, to scratch a strategic and tactical itch, give this a go. A STONE COLD CLASSIC! (Not easy to get into and the story is gubbins, but who cares when the battle battle system is this good)

Might be the most underated game out there, the mechanics are difficult at first but once u get the hang of it its really fun. The story is a bit confusing that part is true but if u pay attention u will actually cry. In conclusion if u want a stylish jrpg with interesting mechanics and a great story this is the game.

Recommend on sale, it has some designs I'm not a fan of, but the game is also pretty unique too and I had fun. Great if you love styling on your enemies. A little rough at the beginning, but you should have more fun when it clicks. I made it to chapter 7 (of 16), but I think I have played enough for now. I enjoyed what I played and I may comeback, and hope I don't forget too much, may put it on the steam deck. However, This game doesn't respect your time and it kinda irks me. I am dreading the side quests, because it is a lot of travel time to find an NPC and then half the time go back, and the tower only opens up more, the further you go. Some days I just get back to back encounters and the whole core elevators needing to load like 2 or 3 times by design sucks. I could honestly live with that....the worst part is how SLOW you move in the dungeons, it's pretty bad and drags things out way too much. If you ran like you do in town after combat, it wouldn't be an issue, but dang, snail snail snail. Sped it up with software and finished it, really helped moving at 2x speed.
