The flight mechanics are still great with power management, shields and dogfighting, it all feels as good as the earlier games. On top of that, you get to fly for both the Rebels and the Empire. But the game leans hard into multiplayer, and it shows. The singleplayer missions are there, but they often feel like they were built with actual human teammates in mind. Without going through the hoops to find people to play with (it's from 1997, so no match making) you’ll be stuck with AI pilots that don’t pull their weight, which can make missions feel more frustrating than fun to downright impossible. On top of that, there’s barely any real story holding things together, especially compared to TIE Fighter, so it ends up feeling a bit empty if you’re playing solo. LGR said it perfectly.
