Awesome game and way better with the XWVM mod. No pixel mush, new game engine, new everything, soundeffects, music, old cutscenes, "3th person view", no fiddeling, native controller support, TrackIR, VR, hop in your seat and start your engines. Steam play time will not be recorded with the mod. Tie fighter support is coming soon. The future looks great with more mods on the horizon. Without tinkering, it's unplayable on win 11.

This game is like studying for an exam, except the exam is fun and you never really stop studying. It gets pretty fun when you've got the hang of it but dammit it's hard and I don't have the patience to keep going. I have respect for the cool complex resource management system though

Can bring back good memories if you were a fan of the original. The missions can be rage inducing due to old school level design. They're mostly complicated multi-part escort missions and you usually end up single handedly defending a lone thin armored transport against the entire imperial armada because your wingman is incompetent, assuming they even give you one for the mission. Oh and there's no indicator that the mission's failed so you could find yourself battling TIE waves indefinitely only to realize you're just going to have to do it all over again.
