The game has great visuals, the idea of a Van Gogh based boss rush is really original and adds a lot of character and there's clearly a lot of love put into making it. Sadly, that's pretty much all the positives, because the flaws pile up really quickly and drag down the experience: · Your only real defensive options are walking slowly and blocking, the latter one doesn't even reduce the damage that much until you unlock an upgrade so it's fairly useless. · The offensive tools are equally bad, mostly because they're tied to long cooldowns and can't be manually activated. This turns most fights into spamming normal attacks and trying to get some lucky hits from the skills without much results. The one spell that CAN be used manually deals even less damage than a regular attack and can only be used 3 times in a fight. . There's no I-Frames. AT ALL. Any attack that lingers will stunlock you, with some particularly egregious examples where getting hit is an instakill. . The only healing comes from hitting the boss at very low hp with the good old regular attacks and more often than not gets you killed. . The later bosses turn into really long fights with no checkpoints or recovery…

Absolutely wonderful tribute to Van Gogh. The visual part is beautiful, the animations are better than I was expecting even if they feel a little cheap sometimes. The gameplay feels a little janky but it's fun and you never feel confused even though the game doesn't give you tutorials on each of the individual gimmicks. It's an amazing experience for it's price and I heavily recommend it.

You can't go wrong with the price. The uniqueness of the art is the main driving point. The game play on the other hand just doesn't feel right with the input lag and some questionable boss choices. In a "souls like" with no dodging except for a jump the shield should block all damage. Also not a fan of the final bosses mechanic. Overall the game is fine for a short boss rush and you cant beat that price. If they charged $5.00 I would buy it but nothing higher than that.

Beautiful short boss rush. Challenging for me, a mediocre skill gamer, but never felt like there was something I couldn't adapt to.

Chapter 1 was funny, but just that and nothing more, and I couldn't "git gud" at one point and seriously considered a refund. Instead of refunding it, though, I went back to the game after a while, and eventually got over that boss. Then I played Chapter 2. Chapter 2 is what makes this game a beautiful tribute to Vincent Van Gogh. This recommendation is mainly due to Chapter 2. Especially recommended for people who liked the movie 'Loving Vincent'. Not recommended for people who have high blood pressure. +Edit: I'm not really considering playing it again in Hard mode though.
