Story of One Night is a game that bills itself as a completed horror release. There is no story, and there's not much to say since the campaign can be completed in 10-20 minutes, so let's just jump into why you shouldn't waste your money here, even if the game is on sale. For those looking for a scary experience, the only "horror" element to the game is some reaper guy that can one-hit kill you when he shows up, but the majority of your gameplay will be spent slightly moving shields back and forth to project beams of light to open up the door to the next level. What you're really getting here for $8 CAD is something that feels like a bunch of scrapped ideas and levels from the alpha version of an abstract/surreal puzzle-platformer, think along the lines of Kairo, that were not good enough to make it into the final product. Furthermore, there are more missing sound effects than ones that are actually included, and overall you'll be unable to shake the feeling that you're just playing a freshman's C- mid-year project. It's certainly not worth the base price, and the $1.99 CAD I paid for it on sale isn't even justifiable. At worst, it should be a buck. At best, it should be free. I…5 found this helpful

Warning: Asset Flip!
"Story of one Night" is a Digital Homicide style asset flip, or what Valve calls a "Fake Game". The "developer" paid for/pirated a few Unity asset store packs, dumped them all in a blender, and submitted it to Valve as if they're real game developers. Two notable criteria for what makes an asset flip instead of legitimate use of stock assets are whether those assets comprise the majority of the game, and whether the "developer" properly credited the people who created most of the assets in the game. This game fails both of those tests. The "developers" here didn't credit any of the artists and real, actual game developers who created the assets here, so this is plagiarism, as well as cash grab shovelware. This asset flip is the typical Russian haunted house jumpscare "adventure" where you wander around asset flipped environments until you get jumpscared. It's also broken... the game crashes immediately on launch for me and can't be played. But Russian asset flippers don't care about that kind of stuff, they just want your money for someone else's game assets. "Story of one Night" d…3 found this helpful
Do not buy it! I'm serious.3 found this helpful
Horrible game. The game just consists of 4 levels, in each level you have to solve some kind of puzzle and after a certain (short) time a monster will appear and kill you instantly if it gets you which it will. This was so annoying in the second level, I almost gave up on it, it's really stupid that you have to redo the levels over and over again. Then on level 3 I had no clue what to do and I had to check a guide, same with the last level. Also you could complete this game in 10 minutes if you wouldn't die over and over. Don't ever play this game.1 found this helpful
Story of one night is a small, atmospheric horror game that reflects both the strengths and limitations of a solo-developed project. Created and published by Usoltsev Kirill, the game places players into a tense first-person nightmare that unfolds over the course of a single, unsettling night. Rather than relying on spectacle or complex mechanics, it focuses on mood, exploration, and gradual unease, aiming to immerse the player in a lonely and hostile environment where understanding what is happening is just as important as escaping it. The premise is intentionally simple. You awaken in a disturbing situation with little explanation and are forced to navigate unfamiliar spaces in search of clues that might explain where you are and how you can leave. Notes, environmental hints, and subtle narrative fragments are scattered throughout the game, encouraging careful exploration and attention to detail. The story is not delivered through exposition-heavy dialogue or cinematic sequences, but instead through implication, allowing players to piece together events at their own pace. This approach reinforces the feeling of disorientation and vulnerability that defines the experience. Gamep…
