Vampire Survivors for poor gaymers.14 found this helpful
Just another entertaining wave-based shooter vying for your attention. Still in very early access, which is shown in the invincibility bug, but future updates should bring additional content. In this game, you control a banana with a gun. As there is no story in these games, the how and why are not important. All you know that germs are trying to get you. The primary skills, in addition to your trusty gun, are a strong magnet that pulls all experience points towards you and a dash that lets you avoid obstacles. The magnet recharges in about two minutes and is really helpful. After the bar is full, you can choose from five random upgrades. The typical things like quicker movement, health regeneration, and different weapons auto-attacking at random times are available. You are only allowed to have so many, so you must choose wisely. You will, however, reach your max level before completing a stage because it is simple to fill up the experience bar. Stages are small arenas where enemies attack you in waves. The objective is to survive waves upon waves, which typically last around 20 minutes. You can advance to the following stage after you beat it. The three stages that are curr…3 found this helpful

"Survive Now" is yet another ripoff of Vampire Survivors (copyright Poncle, 2023), but to date no legal action has been taken by Poncle against the developer. However, as Tetris Holdings LLC vs Xio Interactive shows us, the aspects of game design the developer stole from Poncle are protected by copyright law. Putting aside the ethical bankrupcy of stealing someone else's game IP, this ripoff is significantly worse than Vampire Survivors, although the graphics are slightly better, it's badly optimised, lacks basic customisation features, and just sucks to play. What do you do in the game? It's just Vampire Survivors. Kite and avoid enemies, buy upgrades. It's just not as good, and abandoned. The developers abandoned this 1 year and 11 months ago. It will never be completed. This unfinished game is just polluting Steam and making it harder for gamers to find genuinely, completely made games. The game features really lacklustre 2D visuals (does the developer not know 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid-1990s?). Gamers don't spend thousands of dollars on gaming rigs and the latest 3D graphics cards to play 2D games. Even mobile phones and game consoles can do 3D graph…1 found this helpful
While I'm not a big fan of the assets in this game, I have to admit I'm having fun. The mechanics and weaponry remind me of a mobile game in the same genre that I enjoyed. However, the gameplay started to feel repetitive around round 40, and by round 55, I was ready for it to end—fortunately, it did. Overall, I think this game has potential. With more weaponry, improved defenses, enhanced assets, and different game modes, it could really grow.1 found this helpful
At the moment of this writing, I'm aware of almost 320 bullet heaven titles on Steam alone, with many more on platforms like Itch.io, iOS and Android among others. I am a massive fan of this new genre, but these massive numbers inevitably bring to some level of saturation - in order to stand out, you need to do something more, something different. And while Survive Now's banana-shaped playable character has its charm and a few weapons in this game feel fun to use, as of now the game just doesn't have enough to warrant a recommendation. The core gameplay isn't bad, though some of the stages desperately need more balance, such as the excruciatingly long health bars of the final enemies on stage 2. But the gameplay and progression are also very basic and feature no real variety: no power-ups, no permanent upgrades, limited strategic variety, even though the lack of auto-fire and presence of dodges make it a fairly dynamic game, as small as the stages are. As of now, I don't feel like recommending Survive Now - not enough variety, balance or originality to warrant buying this game over several dozens of other, much more unique and deep titles. The sound core gameplay makes me hope tha…1 found this helpful
