About Sword King

If you were looking for a challenging yet balanced VR sword fighting game, look no further. Sword King takes full advantage of VR capabilities and advanced enemy AI to bring the best fast-paced dynamic and varied swordplay combat.

The combat system

  • Enemies are capable of a large number of attacks (20+ each) and are able to chain them in quick but fluid successions giving place to a very high number of possible combos.
  • Enemies are capable of feinting as well as chaining feints with combos.
  • Physical animations add another layer of realism to the game.
  • Enemies move quickly and precisely, are aggressive and are aware of their distance from the player and launch attacks accordingly.
  • Enemies will be less likely to block successfully if you perform different types of attacks and from different angles, and will be more likely to block them if you perform the same attack repeatedly (not yet implemented)

    Progressively harder waves

  • Fight progressively harder stages carefully balanced to maintain the gameplay intact.

    Wide difficulty options

  • Each wave has a difficulty rating, ranging from easy to very hard.
  • An easy difficulty option is available for players looking for a casual experience.

This game has a solid Idea in progressive difficulty but it lacks sounds design and feedback on attacks. The "weight" of the weapon feels like my wrist is made of jelly is quite frankly poorly designs for the price point its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ terrible there is no rag doll or really any feedback on attacks it feels like the "we have a Blade and Sorcery at home" and this game is what it is not worth the buy. needs more time to develop I am sure one day it can become something great but for $24.99 better options is out there. (dev feedback) make this game free or cheap asf so you can get actual feedback

Will probably give a bad first impression to most people due to the somewhat sparse graphics and lack of atmosphere. The fighting isn't bad though. It takes a bit of imagination but honestly feels more like sword fighting than Blade & Sorcery. You have to anticipate and block and actually role-play like you're sword fighting. I like the seemingly endless enemies and high difficulty. If you want to feel overpowered and just bash guys, get Blade & Sorcery. If you want something that resembles actual sword fighting I prefer this.

This game has a potential. But it requires a lot of effort to make it playable I understand that this is in early access, but for 25$ is too much. Cons: -FPS optimization could be better (framerates drop in the actual levels and it's visiblle) -Weapon grip needs to be fixed, along with the holsters (it is annoying that during combat, your weapon randomly drops or hides in holster) -Other minor issues (enemies falling through the ground or no smooth rotation etc.) However there are some pros: -The animations are really sweet (finally some good two handed weapon animations for enemies) -Overall combat seems quite okay Overall, could be better, large field to improve - eager to try it out whenever it's actually playable.

I can't recommend the game in this state. There is no weapon feedback, the grip barely function with index controllers (weapons fall out of your hand periodically). The enemies do not recoil from attacks/can't be stopped with strikes. It is barely a tech demo, or proof of concept, and shouldn't be sold in this state. That's a refund from me for now, will wait until the game is more fleshed out. I'll change the review then

Have you played any of the other VR-fencings? You realise that opponents should not be empty dummies who don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about jabs, but living bodies with weapons sticking into them and dying from it. Plus not a single discount in any sale. Refund.
