Tache Noire

I'm really not sure why I bought this game. It looks bad, and (shocker) it plays in the same manner. The Steam page for the game doesn't indicate any use of AI during development, but it sure feels like it. The graphics look strange, the game plays poorly, the keybinds don't work half the time, and there's no exit button to actually finish a game session. On top of all that, it runs poorly even on a higher end system. The game turned my PC into a furnace just a few minutes into playing it. I suspect a lower-end PC will have a very difficult time playing it. The whole things just feels like different versions of slop all thrown together into one game that isn't remotely fun. I don't recommend it.

Four words come to mind when I play this game: BIG, JANK, RESIDENT EVIL. Unfortunately, the jank cannot be understated. It is very, very real. 2 hours in and I've seen enemies zip through walls, had frying pans and other random BS phase though the floor, one very annoying crash setting me back about half an hour RIGHT as I got into a new save room (pro tip: save often), and my computer turns into an oven like when I play RE9 or other graphical powerhouses (see specs below, no super computer here). It always feels like the game is on the edge of breaking, saved by some caulk and duct tape. I'm only 2 hours in so I can imagine this list will grow exponentially. So if that sounds like crap to you, maybe don't buy it. If you can stomach all of that, and potentially more I haven't seen, I recommend this game with a hearty thumbs up (if you're into survival horror that is). The enemies are a legitimate threat here. They are aggressive as hell, can catch up to you real quick, corner you, they'll even track you down if, for example, you're inside an apartment building and they catch you from outside. Man does it feel good. A whole indie imsim thats a complete purchase, Its not in a special dev hell where its never coming out. While it is a little buggy, I think its well worth a buy for nonearly access/complete game package alone. If you like survival horror and imsims its a must buy.

lwk peak but some annoying bugs and crashes

It's hard to actually express just how enjoyable this game is as someone that views things such as Half Life, Deus Ex and Dark Messiah of M&M as true 10/10 gaming experiences. Not only did the developer of this game create an interesting play space to explore, they also put in various fun environmental dangers and ways to tackle the enemies in this game. It's rare that a game has me going, "Huh...I can't wait to circle back around to this room later when I have XYZ key/item" or even "Oh...wait a second I can get into this by stacking up 2 or 3 boxes like 4 minutes down the road..." but Tache Noire absolutely excels there. Not only is there MULTIPLE ways to sequence break the game, the developer carefully crafted solutions to just about every way you'd attempt a sequence break, so that you're not entirely locked out of anything, ever. Genuinely a joy to play and a wonderful world to explore. The vibes are truly 10/10 and as a found footage horror fan, there is just something about the unsettling graphical filter and locations in this game that many struggle to execute on. It's a very interesting game with fantastic exploration and a story that slowly unfolds. It's an excellent mix of puzzles, comabt, and survival. It undeniably has some technical flaws, but once you look past them, they all add to the experience. It's not going to be for everyone, but it was definitely a game for me.
