✦ AI summary
Players praise this stylish rhythm game for its gorgeous hand-drawn art, catchy music, and deceptively challenging gameplay that rewards mastery despite simple controls. The main complaints center on difficulty spikes that feel inconsistent between levels, unforgiving health mechanics, and reports of buggy beatmaps in certain stages that can deal unavoidable damage.
A rhythm game with 4 lanes. You control a red and purple spirit and there are 5 zones with 3 levels each. After beating a zone, new yokai are added with a different ability. Each level, you start with 5 hp and can slowly gain it back by hitting combos. The player needs to focus on timing and hand eye coordination and you have about 2-3 seconds to react to the incoming yokai chain.
Pros:
- The controls are simple, but this game is hard to master. - Art is hand drawn and the nature background of each level is gorgeous. - As more yokai are unlocked, there are detailed lore descriptions of each. - Music is catchy for each level and the soundtrack is coming soon per Steam page.
Cons:
- Normal difficulty is still relatively hard even for many players. As of this review, only 15% beat all 5 zones on normal difficulty.
Suggestions:
- Give 1 extra life for normal difficulty only. If player dies, you come back with 1 HP. - Add a daily challenge level for more replay-ability. - Add controller support. - Add a replay feature. This will allow player to watch their mistakes from previous run. [b] Conclusion: A challenging game with beautiful art and catchy…5 found this helpful
I'm not into rhythm games still this one made me like the genre a little more quite short with decent music and aesthetics and still there is some space for hardcore players who enjoy challenge I totally recommend it 7/101 found this helpful
Like other reviews are saying, this game is deceptively hard. I looked at some gameplay beforehand and thought it looked very slow and easy. Turns out, a lot of it continues to look slow and easy as you play, and yet somehow you end up taking 4 hits in a row. It took me ~75 minutes to beat every stage on normal for the first time and by the end my brain was still struggling to keep my characters in the right position. There are some faster songs and some slower songs with each new set of levels introducing a new mechanic. Even the fast songs usually don't have more than a few short sections where inputs really need to be fast, on normal mode at least, but the extra layer of having to swap the characters around as well as the break in muscle memory for rhythm games requiring you to wait in the right spot rather than hit a key as the note hits does a good job of making the game complex enough that it's always harder than it looks. You've also got the benefit of hard mode to get a faster and more intense version of the levels and demon mode to add a sadistic mechanic for anyone really wanting to master the game. With only 14 levels it's pretty short, but it's enjoyable. It's probabl…1 found this helpful
Great game! My brain is old and slow, so I could just barely beat the game on the easiest difficulty after bashing my head against it for hours (most playtime was offline). It was a lot of fun, though.
The game seems to have been abandoned, which would be fine if it was working. But there are several levels whose beatmaps are bugged, including one with unavoidable damage.
It's like a high quality flash game from back in the day. The gameplay is a lot harder than it looks, at least on hard mode. I miss one and then I just straight miss my whole hp bar lol. The mechanic of swapping is new to me and pretty refreshing. Something I noticed was because of the auto attacking, and not something like hitting the notes on time like other rhythm games, you have to position the character in the correct spot before the note hits. It's obvious, but I'm not sure others have noticed this consciously. Didn't get to finish the game yet, but the enemy types surprised me and the levels are challenging enough to make the game worth getting.
