Tales of Miravia marks my first foray into an RPG Maker game—and while I came in hopeful, the experience was unfortunately underwhelming. It’s a serviceable, traditional JRPG with some visual charm and competent (if basic) mechanics, but it ultimately lacks the depth, polish, and accessibility needed to hold interest beyond the first couple of hours. While I always give games at least 2 hours to hook me, Tales of Miravia didn’t manage to do that. Gameplay and Mechanics: 6/10 The game follows a classic JRPG formula: explore, talk to NPCs, fight monsters in turn-based combat, and progress through a main quest involving the purification of corrupted statues. Combat is what you'd expect—simple and functional—but without any mechanical twist or evolution. No classes, no complex builds, no experimental systems. It works, but it’s bland. Input delay is a consistent issue. Movement feels sluggish, making exploration more tedious than it should be. This is especially frustrating when trying to navigate narrow paths or cross bridges, where falling into water happens often—not because of poor player decisions, but because of slow input response.
