About Tales of Rein Ravine

In lush alpine mountains and meadows stands the renowned equestrian capital of Europe, a town called Rein Ravine and its surrounding province of the same name.
You have been admitted to study in its highly sought-after Rein Ravine Equine University International, alongside with other ambitious equestrians from around the world. This once in a lifetime opportunity leads you to train in the three most common European disciplines - showjumping, dressage, and cross country - under the eye of masters claimed to be some of the best in the world. But is equestrian life in this prestigious village as glamorous as it appears?
The Early Access version of Tales of Rein Ravine doesn't contain the storyline yet, but while waiting for the school year to begin, you can visit the barns in Rein Ravine and take summer riding lessons!

Tales of Rein Ravine aims to challenge its players with first-of-its-kind riding mechanics and gameplay heavily inspired by real-life horse riding, as well as tell an intriguing story - more mature than typical in its genre - to a young adult audience of horse gamers. Horses in Rein Ravine are versatile to ride, ranging from calm and experienced geldings to hot-blooded mares and easily spooked young stallions.

Such a good horse game!! As someone who couldn't find a good horse-related game on steam that's realistic yet cheap, I was literally bouncing off the walls when I jumped into Tales Of rein Ravine!!! 100% recommend to people who are struggling! x1 found this helpful
This game honestly feels like a passion project that was way more complex and expensive than the developer originally realised. There has been no progress or updates for 2 years; the game should have been completed by now, but likely the developer just lacked the funding or the motivation to continue. The game's mechanics feel janky and gameplay becomes repetitive really quickly. After completing the tutorial, you have the choice of riding around in three areas - polework in the sand arena, flatwork in another sand arena, and cross country. The cross country is the only enjoyable area; even then, it becomes boring and monotonous quickly. There is no variety - which is to be expected of an early access game, but I highly doubt this game will ever release as the developer intended to (if the dev even intended to finish this game in the first place). I would say don't waste your money; thankfully, this game is free. So don't even waste your time. You likely won't be able to get past trying to find the bus in the first five minutes of the game, since there are no directions or help system to be found. The vibe and the aesthetic of the game is certainly cozy and relaxing, but every…1 found this helpful
Tales of Rein Ravine is a horse game that immediately stands out because it takes the actual riding side much more seriously than I expected. I am playing as a student at Rein Ravine Equine University, where the main focus is learning dressage, showjumping and cross country. The setting is built around the idea of studying horses in a beautiful alpine area, and right now the game is much more of a riding experience than a full adventure. The planned story is not actually in the current Early Access version, so I have to judge what is here rather than what the game may eventually become. The riding controls are easily my favourite part. The game tries to make me think about how I am controlling the horse instead of just pressing a button to make it run or jump. My hands and legs have separate controls, and jumping involves paying attention to the horse's stride and timing. That makes even something as simple as approaching a jump feel more involved. Dressage also gives me more to think about than just riding around an arena, and I like that the game is clearly trying to make the horse feel like an animal I have to work with rather than a vehicle. I also like how the horses are han…1 found this helpful
I really like the mechanics. It's a nice change of things that you actually have to practice and put some work into getting things right just as you would need to with real life riding. The horses look good and their personalities and behaviour make them feel alive. It's cool to have backstories for Blaze and Tati and I appreciate the emphasis that no two horses are the same and that you need to approach riding them differently. Overall the landscape looks good, having 3D for the playable map and 2D background is a good solution to me. Both training stables would already offer a lot of world to explore so I can't imagine how much the riding academy would add to this. There is so much potential in this game which will probably never fulfilled. I hope that atleast the EA stays up for us to play and I can only dream what the full game could have looked like. For everyone struggling to start the game: You have to interact with the posters on the billboard, look at all the options and then you will be able to take the bus on the opposite of the road from where you arrived. The bus will take you to the dressage stable (not much to do there) and to the Cherry Peaks stable. Walk up the hi…1 found this helpful
