Tank Universal 2

I wanted to like this because I loved the crap out of the first one - but the new search and destroy mode is ass and it feels like every bullet sponge on the map has an aimbot making it impossible to charge a shot - and it has hit flinch which makes things even worse with every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ unit having an aimbot. A miserable experience and extremely disappointing.

this is not necessarily a bad review but i also have some disappointments with it, for a start Tank Universal is an old ass game now i played it when i was a little kid years ago off WildTangent Games, this game i couldn't find for the longest time i came across finally and found out there was a sequel, i played the first one and beat it and immediately moved on to the sequel, the new systems looked good the updated visuals and frame rate was nice and the and coming from the first game i was actually interested in the story. however some problems i have with this game are nitpicks and not at all integral to the game itself, the game works and plays as far i can tell. as for my problems with it it mostly comes down to the first game, for a start the new systems are kinda a pain in the ass, it feels too simulator if thats the right word for it, the 1st game was Arcadey, every enemy has so much health and you knew exactly how many shots or what method to kill them, lights where fast but 1 hits kill and threatening in higher numbers, medium tanks where higher damage but 2 hit kill, evade their shots and hit them before they hit you, artillery was 1 hit kill but was far to the back ne…

ooooooo I really really tried to like this one. I reaaaally tried. Tank Universal from what everyone has stated before me, yes, is an old ass game. No doubt. But it is a good one... the original anyway. What Tank Universal 2 does wrong is remove everything the first game did correct and dilute it with water removing the flavor. Add in more asinine difficulty that wasn't needed. Such as tanks now being absolute bullet sponges taking forever just to take one single tank down. Some levels even stop sending in reinforcements leaving you to fend for yourself against literal impossible odds (the stupid hacking levels). Which is like in the first game where you had to press buttons all over the maze against the factory except it's in a huge field. No glyphs. Just... screw you man. Good luck. Die. The cutscenes from the first game were done so well. Dumbed down. Natural progression. Gone. It's just jump from level to level with no substance. The Upgrade screen is... meh. Prefer the originals. I really hope if the developer of this game takes these criticisms to heart, looks back at the original game, and studies what he did that made the first game so special. This is a wat…

The combat is hit and miss (partial pun intended) Some missions, there ain't a single enemy unit around, in others, there is plenty of cannon fodder. While TU1 had lovely animated cutscenes, this game rather wants to do a freaking slide show. Lazy. The missions are to much repeats of the same either defence or attack missions. Repeated to much. I think TU1 is better. But could do with the various tanks to play around with. a few new "abilities" adds to the fun, but they aren't much to write home about. As of this review, i have yet to complete it. Had a crash to desktop. The only actual bug i ever had. Pretty solid game. Aside from how slow the Heavy tank is, i REALLY love it in SP. Not only like a dang (slow) sniper, but i don't have to constantly guess where my shots land. Half way through the game i decided to enable god mode, because the game felt like it just dragged oooon toooo lloooooonng. Wish there was a bind command so i can bind "giveshards 666" to something like J and god mode to K. Cheats made the game more fun and more bearable. same with TU1. Being able to bind the cheats to keys would have been a sweet gift. oooh well...

I've always loved the first Tank Universal and this was an amazing sequel. Shout out to the creator for his immense dedication over the years and his compassionate heart. Really beautiful ending!

I played the Original years ago (like 2008 back in the day in middle school and played even more once i got older in high school), I bought the second one once it came out but didn't have much time to try it. Now that I do I am so happy I got into it. It was worth the wait. Feels crisp, and refined but still so close to the original. If you have not played through either of them you should.
