About TASOMACHI: Behind the Twilight
Tasomachi is an independently developed adventure game that lets you freely explore the beautiful world created by designer nocras. Assuming the role of young female protagonist Yukumo, fix your beloved airship by exploring the mysterious town covered by the Twilight Mist to collect hidden Sources of Earth and help restore the town’s lost brilliance. Enjoy this unique world with an Eastern fantasy twist, complemented perfectly by composer Ujico*’s mystical soundtrack.
The Town
Wander and explore this mysterious and beautiful town. As time slowly creeps by, the subtle differences in the town between night and day are mesmerizing.
The Nezu Tribe – the only remaining inhabitants of the town – just may provide some useful hints regarding the Sources of Earth.

Players praise the game's stunning visuals, relaxing atmosphere, and charming exploration-based gameplay with East Asian-inspired aesthetics, noting it's best experienced with a controller. However, common complaints include misleading tags (puzzle elements aren't advertised), slow early progression, rough edges suggesting an unfinished or experimental product, and the brevity and simplicity of content that may not justify full price for some players. The game appeals specifically to those seeking a chill, meditative collect-athon experience rather than a challenging or story-driven adventure.
I primarily got this game because I'm a big fan of Ujico*, what I got was a quaint and fun little platformer collectathon in the same vein as Mario Odyssey. It's charming, the art is beautiful, and the music is great. $20 feels a little pricey, but I'd say it was worth it!
It's a hit or miss, but I fairly liked this game. Overall vibe is pretty chill. Just go around collecting sources and currency. Movement is fairly slow in the beginning til you unlock all your powers; which, I recommend getting them as early as possible. Once you unlock all your powers you can do some movement techniques that accelerate your speed around the map pretty quickly; though, it does feel like skating on ice. I mostly used controller throughout my playtime so I recommend using a controller if you have one. I wouldn't recommend paying full price cause this game feels more like a concept and experimental. If you like collecting and running around wasting your time finding things then by all means get it. Otherwise I'd steer clear and find a more entertaining game worth your time.
A fun collect-athon adventure that has a very chill atmosphere and is quite pretty. Though there are some rough edges, the parkour, exploration, and activities were engaging, if a bit basic. The "story" is just background setup; the pretty environments and music are the real standouts. I am glad I finally got around to playing it after it had been sitting in my wishlist for years.
this game feels like a playable dream. mechanics-wise it is clearly nocras's first foray into game development, and overall it gives the impression of a beta (sometimes, alpha) build, which i initially didn't love. the protag, for example, doesn't emote or even blink; but i'm feeling charitable, so let's just call that an attempt to make her doll-like. weirdly, the more i played it, the more i was able to think of even that as part of the Experience(tm); even finding this game in the back room of PLAYISM's publishing catalogue felt a little surreal. strange to think i had not known about this game for 5 entire years. nocras has a clear talent for illustrating strange and beautiful landscapes; browsing through what works i could find on the internet, so many of them remind me of recurring locations in my own dreams that i still remember pretty vividly today. TASOMACHI does feel like an interactive version of their art, and i saw somewhere a reviewer called the vibe "ghibli-esque", though i would argue that it specifically emulates Spirited Away and Boy & The Heron's lonely environments more than other ghibli works'. i am pretty fascinated with this weird little game! there's not…
The game is BEAUTIFUL. The environments are gorgeous and super fun to explore and take in all the sights. Each map is compact and once you've unlocked all the movement it takes just a few moments to get anywhere that catches your eye. The aesthetics are neo-fantasy mixed with East Asian themes, think wandering around an empty town which should be packed full of people, but filled with vending machines, airships, cherry blossoms, narrow alleyways, paper lanterns, pagodas and talking cats. AKA the purrfect aesthetic. It is short and you can beat it in an afternoon. I beat it in around 6 hours but spent a little more time collecting things. This means you never get tired of an area, even if you're backtracking a few times to complete the collectathon. The "puzzles" are not hard, either timing or trying each option will get you through in just a few tries, which for this type of game is what I wanted, not some difficult platforming. The game isn't perfect, the music in a couple areas, particularly the first challenge area, doesn't fit and is kind of grating to hear on repeat. But the majority of the tracks are relaxing chill vibes that I'd never really tire of. The mechanics/feel o…
