[h1]Seafood may never be the same... :o[/h1] [h2]Introduction[/h2] [i]Taste of the Sea[/i] is an animal-themed, otome visual novel with horror elements developed by Memo, Nitzz, and 5000ms Production and published by Memo. You take on the role of an unnamed female character (which you can name), and you're feeling the struggles of university life and whatnot. You call your mom, and she offers to cook for you as a way to reenergize you. Liking the idea, you agree and tell her that you want a seafood dish. Thus, your mom sends you money to buy fresh seafood, and you go to the market to take your pick. However, after arriving back at your apartment, you find out that your live aquatic creature can talk, and it goes without saying that you're very surprised. As for the gameplay, it mostly consists of choices. While early choices determine which route you enter, latter choices determine whether you get the good or bad ending. There are 3 dateable options: Lobby the Lobster, Crabbian the Crab, and Octus the Octopus. However, Octus' route is unavailable until you complete Lobby's and Crabbian's routes. The writing is really cute, ​during my first route I legit felt cheered up by lobby's wisdom and got emotional. But at the same time it had so many somber parts. While on surface glance the game was about how a cute pet can give someone strength when life seems bleak, it was also subtly exploring the negative ​side of leaning too hard into a coping mechanism. Mc [spoiler] leaving for the sea the happy ends [/spoiler] made me worry that [spoiler] the whole game was her hallucination [/spoiler] out of her desperation to deal with stress and feelings of inadequacy, which would be sad if true but still a good story! There were occasional spelling and grammar issues but nothing extreme enough to ruin my enjoyment, the story was perfect in how it shows instead of telling (a common issue in many media), the most important factor of writing imo.

This game has great OST and it alwasy fits the scene so well the art is so cute and the story is short but it was verry nice and cute hehe the plot twist was really unexpected but it was a fun visual novel to play

I really enjoyed this game and was surprised it made me cry in the end. I wish there was an ending where we can save all of them. the art was very cute also. 10/10

Short, sweet, and with a pinch of scary, I really enjoyed Taste of the Sea! [b]Premise[/b] Our story begins with MC struggling with university and being stressed out. We call our mum, who offers to cook us an energizing seafood meal. Looking forward to it, we head to the market to pick our seafood. At the start, you can end up with either Lobby the lobster, or Crabbian the crab. You discover when you get home that your chosen food can talk! From there, your romance blossoms. Will your companion be cooked by the end of the week? The third love interest is only unlocked after you complete Lobby and Crabbian’s route once. If you are a completionist, I recommend achieving Lobby and Crabbian’s good, bad, and unexpected ends before embarking on the third route. [b]Gameplay[/b] In traditional visual novel style, each choice will dictate the story’s path. In my opinion, the choices are quite clear. As long as you react lovingly and with care to deepen your relationship with each love interest, you will get the good ending easily.
