About TavernHold

Tavernhold is a single-player mix of daylight inn-management and nighttime tower defense. Build up a profitable roadside tavern, gather the resources you need, and hold the line when undead waves march on your gate. Guard the inn—if it falls, your fight is over.Hire your workers to assign them where they’re needed most: gathering food and timber, constructing new rooms and tables, repairing defenses, or manning the walls when night falls.
Feed travelers and rent out rooms to earn gold, then reinvest it into more workers, faster resource nodes, and stronger defenses.Spend wood to add tables, guest rooms, spike traps, stronger gates, or new resource outposts. Decide what matters most before the night arrives!A roguelike twist on every run.Receive a random bonus at the start of each day that changes how you play.As days pass, the chances of stronger bonuses increase, pushing you to adapt and plan ahead.Design the battlefield your way.Shape enemy paths, place defenses at key locations, and experiment with different strategies.Watch your plans come together as each night puts your design to the test.At night, place your workers onto the walls to shoot the enemies and take direct control of a giant ballista. Slow the undead horde with spike traps, pierce clustered enemies with well-placed bolts, and keep your enemies away from breaching the gate—too many slip through and it’s game over!Advance through a branching research tree to strengthen your inn and defenses. Upgrade your rooms and tables to earn more gold, empower workers and traps for stronger defense, and enhance your ballista with new arrow types to hold back the undead army!Unlock special arrow types and craft them for battle. Explosive bolts tear through clustered enemies, while frost bolts slow the horde—stock up and fire them at the perfect moment!Every few nights, powerful bosses lead the undead army to your gates! Defend against them with upgraded defenses, crafted arrows, and careful worker placement.Master the daily rhythm of gather-build-serve, then withstand each night’s siege to keep your tavern from falling!

✦ AI summary

TavernHold successfully blends tavern management with tower defense into an addictive "just one more round" experience that most players find fresh and engaging for the asking price. However, the game struggles with balance issues—difficulty spikes quickly and progression becomes frustrating, with some players hitting hard walls early on—plus it suffers from interface bugs and a somewhat abrupt ending after just 15 days. Players generally recommend it as a creative concept worth trying, but note it needs better difficulty scaling and bug fixes to reach its full potential.

TavernHold is a surprisingly fresh twist on tower defense, mixing in tavern management in a way that feels natural. At first, I thought it would be a simple mash-up, but I quickly found myself balancing tavern upgrades, and defense strategies with a "just one more round" obsession. The game has a few rough edges, some interface quirks and minor bugs, but none of them stop the fun, and it’s clear there’s huge potential here. For anyone looking for a creative spin on the genre, it is absolutely worth a try.

I started out really enjoying this game. I thought it was a cool, fresh concept; run a tavern but protect it at night. A cool stratedgy combined with drunks who need to sleep it off. However, it became extrememlly tough to progress. I wound up stuck on a specific day early on in the game. My only hope of continuing would be to completely start over, and in fact I did--only to run into the same issue. This was a dissapointing set back for me. I would have loved to have a more relaxed game mode option, focused more on the buulding mechanic, and less on the combat. In fact, I ended up finding a different Tavern based game for me to enjoy, seeing as I had been really enjoying managing a tavern. So in my opinion, if you are after running a tavern, check out Tavern Master.

⭐ 5.5/10 — 👍 Recommended Day/night cycle sim where you run a tavern and defend it from undead waves. Concept works, loop is genuinely fun, and at seven dollars it is hard to complain too much. Where it struggles is balance. The nights escalate faster than your ability to keep up and end game feels out of reach for most players right now. I have not cracked night 8 out of 15, is it just me??? Still worth a shot at the price. Just know what you are getting into. Dropped a full video on this if you want the deeper breakdown: https://youtu.be/g83N4se1J1M

Could be a great game love the concept, however it has a bug when you place/build defenses you get locked into the menu and cant do anything else...it gose away it seems if you wait till the next day but this stops you from doing any building or upgradeing in the tavern its self, I reported this to there discord but it was compleatly silent not even players chatting, after a month I gave up and left I hope this game isnt abandond and it gets fixed cuse it could be alot of fun. (just went back and checked there discord nothing has been said since my post — 2026-03-24 3:47 PM)

I found this a lot of fun. You build your tavern and defense during the day (the strategy part), and defend the tavern against ghosts and zombies at night (the tower defense part). Both the strategy part and the tower defense part are relatively simple, but it's a fun mix. My one big complaint is that the game is very short - it ends just as it really starts getting fun. You build/defend for 15 days - and that's it. I got 30 hours out of it by doing it multiple times with different strategies and goals. One other complaint: there's a minor bug where your building sites for resources will disappear; so you can be locked out of building more logging camps or food markets. I found it enough fun for $7. It seems to me to be the first level of what could be a very engaging combined strategy/tower defense game.
