TDP4: Team Battle (2024)

Took you guys long enough to get this running again... I don't blame the 95% of the player base for completely forgetting about this title's existence. Such a shame that there's no way to migrate accounts from either Kongregate or Facebook, making those of us who've spent a pretty penny in-game feel dumb for doing so, furthermore disencouraging old players from returning to the game.

TDP4: Team Battle delivers a straightforward blend of side-scrolling shooting, competitive multiplayer action, and persistent character progression. Developed and published by JAVELIN OÜ, it takes the familiar structure of a 2D arena shooter and adds enough RPG-inspired systems to give players goals beyond simply winning individual matches. Its presentation may look relatively simple beside modern multiplayer shooters, but that simplicity allows the game to concentrate on quick combat, weapon experimentation, character improvement, and competitive play. Combat takes place across 2D battlefields where movement and positioning are just as important as accurate shooting. Since players fight from a side-view perspective, understanding platforms, elevation, sightlines, and weapon ranges becomes a major part of surviving encounters. Matches can become frantic when several players occupy the same area, particularly when powerful weapons enter the fight. GREATEST OF ALL TIME.

TDP4: Team Battle is one of those games that immediately brought back memories of old school browser shooters for me. It is a fast two dimensional multiplayer shooter with a strong arcade feel, but it also adds character progression, different races and a whole collection of weapons. I liked how quickly I could get into a match and start shooting without having to learn an overly complicated control scheme. The combat is built around movement, positioning and using the environment properly. I can jump between platforms, hide behind cover and switch between different weapons depending on the situation. The weapon selection is one of the more enjoyable parts because the game goes from ordinary firearms to much more futuristic options. I liked experimenting with different loadouts and finding weapons that suited the way I wanted to play. There are several match types available, including Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Last Man Standing, Elimination and Duel.
