✦ AI summary
Players consistently criticize Amazonian Dread for poor game design, including unbeatable enemies with broken mechanics, tedious unskippable narration, and unfinished features that create a frustrating experience. The pricing is widely viewed as unjustifiable given the game's incomplete state and severe playability issues, with multiple reviewers expressing relief they obtained it cheaply or through bundles.
Started game. Spent ten minutes trying to figure out how to get out of the options screen. Finally got to play. Sat through tedious unskippable voiceover. Walked right. Got killed by a bear. Forced to start again. Walked right. Got killed by a bear. No way to defend. Can't stealth past it. Can't hide from it. Bear runs faster than I do. Forced to start again. Walked right. Got killed by a bear. Uninstalled. Never saw any "Amazonian Dread." Oh, wait. I've just noticed the price. $11.99!?!?!? THERE is the dread!23 found this helpful

Having just watched The Green Inferno, I thought it would be as good a time as any for another dose of horror set in the Amazonia, and so I gave The Amazonian Dread (TAD) a shot. Indeed, TAD should be shot dead, burnt, and its ashes dispersed. TAD puts you in the hiking boots of an ethnobotanist (her profession has zero relevance to the actual gameplay) with an ego as swollen as her knee: her narration begins with "My name is Professor Arieda", which sounds as pedantic as it is irrelevant, and, supposedly, she suffered a "sprained knee" a few hours earlier. Amazingly, that does not prevent her from standing upright, walking and running steadily, though it would explain why she moves so slowly. And TAD is a game where you get to run a LOT. Seconds after the game begins, you get chased by a... grizzly bear? Yep, folks, this Amazonian forest is one long rectangular corridor filled with charred fir trees and an animal species native from another continent. Also, the trailer hints at the presence of wolves, so maybe the endgame features, I don't know, Arctic foxes? That bear bears little resemblance to reality (sorry for the pun): it only lives to kill you, which it will do with one …1 found this helpful
Start level Get killed by a bear with broken hit detection, broken section beyond belief. I'm grateful I paid $1.50 and got this in a bundle, how this is $16.95 otherwise is staggering1 found this helpful
