The Bar Souls

LOVE this game. If you have grown up with gaming, back to the earliest days, if you love retro games and the nostalgia of games like Legend of Zelda, Adventure, the real old school classics, then you will feel at home here. This game is an homage to the early roots of gaming. The combat is tough, the scenery is beautiful, the soundtrack is amazing, the amount of emotion and nostalgia they can pour into such simple pixel art is really impressive. I've finished the game once already and I'm diving back in to uncover more of the little secrets and easter eggs!

Titan Souls but like you spawn with a different weapon. The environment looks so much like Titan Souls and then it is a boss battler like Titan Souls, hmm I wonder if this game took influence from Titan Souls. I liked how the main character is a health bar. Most of the weapons felt too similar and I would have liked some more variation and wackyness. I recommend this game if you liked Titan Souls.

So far, the game is really good. The difficulty feels well balanced, and both the aesthetics and map design are very well thought out. The only downside I’ve found is that you can’t skip animations, whether it’s death scenes or menu transitions. They’re a bit slow to start or exit, so sometimes it’s just faster to press Alt+F4. Other than that, I think it’s an excellent game.

What if the bar from Break Out decided to go on a souls-like adventure? That must have been the question that arose in Falling from Mountain at one point during development as this game came into fruition. A classic top down green shaded dungeon crawler adventure filled with bosses that one must defeat using weapons that the game chooses for you, aiming, dodging, attacking, and most of all: surviving. For those who couldn't already tell, it takes a lot of cues from Titan Souls and in a good way regarding how it conveys its information and the boss patterns to learn in order to defeat them. Moreover, having no health bar in sight for them while you're your own (literally) makes for a thrilling experience of endurance as you can’t quite tell at some points how close you’re to the end. This sensation of being on edge is further witnessed in the quiet and sometimes sinister yet mysterious and peaceful atmosphere of the ruins of this civilization whose lore is told cryptically through murals and symbolism. The path is barely laid out in front of you so you're on your own trying to figure out what to do, where to explore, what to obtain and how to move forward. In that regard, the …

Cool game. The bosses could receive a rework in an upcoming sequel (the moves are pretty similar between them), and the minions with projectiles felt a bit unfair. However, the exploration, vibes, mininalism, music, use of an invented language and other aspects make it worth your time. There's something special here.

Excelente Souls like, y en retro pixel art (disculpe la nostalgia pero eso para mi suma un monton ja!) Divertido, frustrante (en el buen sentido) y con un soundtrack alucinante en cada Boss! En lo personal me fascino!
