About The Black Route

The contract has you lined up for 10 days driving the Black Rails, make sure the goods arrive. Callers can't resist the train's rumble. The Black Route is an atmospheric low-poly horror game where you must look after a train from its front cabin, with the supernatural things that were once human seeking a way inside.

Features:

 • Manage the train's horn pressure and Medium to keep your cabin secure.
 • Open and move the cargo to protect yourself from Callers.
 • Check and apply the right codes to reset power for the cabin and carriages.
 • Ensure enough cargo survives the nights to achieve one of 3 endings.

Story

You were happy working the Southern lines, you were until Sophie became afflicted. So you took up the only work that would pay for Affliction Treatment in such a short time. The Black Route ferry's supplies and weapons between settlements and cities separated by deep supernatural Medium hotspots, naturally the work is well compensated. The pay should even cover a double treatment, should the route afflict those who traverse its rails.

This game is fairly short, but I really enjoyed it. At first I didn't really understand, but as the days crept on, its mechanical depth flourished. The amazing sound design accentuates a wonderful horror experience devoid of jumpscares. For this price, you really can't beat it, and I find it scarier than even some big budget horror games. It's short and sweet and doesn't overstay it's welcome as I feel anymore would have been stretching what the game has to offer. It's good.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ All I Wanted Was a Paycheck… Now the Train Is Haunted 🚂👁️ The Black Route immediately throws you into that “something is very wrong and it’s probably watching me” kind of vibe 😬 From the jump, there’s this constant ominous presence lurking around, not jump scare heavy, but the slow burn “yeah I don’t like this” feeling that never really leaves. You take on this dangerous job running a train because you need the money to help your family survive 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 And honestly? That alone makes you instantly root for the main character. Dude isn’t chasing glory, fame, or clout, he’s just trying to keep his family alive. Absolute underdog energy right out the gate. Respect. The sound design and music deserve a shoutout 🎧🚨 Throughout the game, there’s this rhythmic, pulsing music that never fully relaxes, it just sits there in the background with an uncanny, unsettling feel, like it knows something you don’t. It perfectly feeds into the tension, making even the quiet moments feel suspicious. The kind of music that makes you stop, listen, and go, “yeah… something bad is about to happen.” Aesthetically, I couldn’t shake the feeling that this game reminded me of Iron Lung, and I …

About a half hour and a few levels in so far, awesome game. The rush to prioritize specific tasks is thrilling. This game will make you love the sound of a train horn more than you ever thought you would as a source of comfort on The Black Route. This game is really well made.

Awesome game! Great design, super engaging. Not knowing how everything worked at the beginning added to the feeling of unease, and figuring everything out was really rewarding. Excellent, atmospheric sound and art, too. Would highly recommend if you're into horror games with a puzzle feel. I was gripped the whole time.
I blew up too much cargo, now I can't go back 2 my wife RIP
