About The Butterfly Collector

While investigating the evidence left by a stalker and kidnapper, track the fate of a college girl. The player advances and watches the plot by clicking to make choices for the heroine at key moments, with different choices leading to different endings.       Two unnamed police officers are investigating the media sensation “The Raw Incedent”. A college girl was kidnapped and imprisoned in the basement, but when her friend found the scene and called the police, the kidnapper was already dead and the victim of the kidnapping was in a state of semi-insanity, unable to provide any clues. The police found the kidnapper's voice recordings and security footage in the house, hoping to find the information that will reveal the whole truth. After two days of conflict and maneuvering between an ugly and rotten soul and a resolute and bold mind, the story finally unfolds in front of people.       The different options lead to three different endings, but only one of them is the truth. The other two are nothing more than someone's fantasies before death.       A short visual novel of psychological horror in an East Asian setting, available in English and Chinese, with a text volume of about 40,000 characters. Read John Fowles' The Collector before gaming for a better experience.

A story about a kidnapper and his victim. Mind the tags, they are well chosen, this goes into visceral horror as well as very uncomfortable psychology. The translation is a little rough and near the start two lines are fully untranslated, but it doesn't impair understanding of the story. For the small price, this is definitely worth my time.

picked this up for the artwork and the heavy theme. enjoyed the story, however I wished there was a little more to the game. more unique art or motion to each slide, more chances for you to make the story more personalized (more choices to choose from). nonetheless still enjoyed the game/story and loved the art

personally i liked the novel(and it`s pretty short, just 2 hours). technically there are 3 endings, but basically 2 of them are just 15 lines of text and the "canon" is the true ending and relatively long. the plot is pretty simple yet it only includes like 2.5 characters and there`s not much info about anyone or anything else. i liked the main character but there isn`t much to hate about her. on contrary the guy is disgustingly stupid... i don`t enjoy it when characters are either "black" or "white". about english translation: it is fine, but i laughed at "you! you! toilet!". i wonder how that line sounds in mandarin hahhah

The story is cool. But I didn't like the lack of choice throughout the game (only one in total, at the end), the many empty and meaningless scenes, and it felt more like a book with little visuals. The main character, however, is top-notch in terms of visuals.

I tried to get all the endings in one sitting but my first playthrough I didn't expect it at all. Loved the story but dialogue felt too formal and stiff. Maybe it's the translation. Great visual novel for the price.
