About The Girl Who Kicked a Rabbit

An ethereal, pulp spraying, contemplative stroll from one end of a city to the other.
As the little combat wizard Lumi, you'll use the "Arcana" to fight a geyser of cute, and clever spirit bunnies.

Combat in "The Girl Who Kicked a Rabbit" is designed as an easy-going experience, with a whole basket of meticulously crafted mechanics to fiddle around with.
Every element of the game is engineered to react in the fastest, most responsive way.

Selecting one of your astral weapons and obliterating a long-eared bugger, is an interface delight. The bunnies will hold "Catalysts", that you'll need in order to win.
Understanding which of these otherworldly baubles you need, and actually getting them before they disappear, will be half the battle.

No reason to get all tricked out before the next hand-to-hand: Every battle gives you a different collection of mystical "Arcana" to wield. Some of them are good to go, and others you have to unlock on the job.

Murdering doe-eyed bunny beasts isn't enough to win! Somehow, you'll need to get enough "Gods' Wine" to close the flaming portals that keep sending out more opponents.
Sometimes the rabbits will drop this celestial nectar, and sometimes a more economic approach is required.
If you've got a little chemist inside you somewhere, perhaps you'd prefer making your own divine kombucha.
Good thing every critter killed is a piñata of goo-covered treasure.

For me, the highlight of this game is the combat - I like turn-based combat, and this is easily one of the most fun turn-based systems I've played. Around the point where Agony Glass is introduced it starts getting very strategic and I enjoyed how many viable options it felt like I had - e.g. you can use Agony Glass and then heal, you can fish for special items to get rid of them, or you can try to manipulate the battlefield so you avoid getting the Glass in the first place. The randomness of the battles can be frustrating something but I don't think it's nearly as bad as some other commenters have made it out to be, since it's often illusory and you can manipulate the flow of a fight to make the right items spawn more quickly. Unfortunately, that's kind of the only really stand-out element. The story and art style is very abstract and surreal, which can be appealing, but it felt underutilized here. Lumi is a foul-mouthed character with a short fuse and little patience, and she ends up feeling very out-of-place paired against all the cute stuffed animal-looking rabbits. I think it would have been better if the story ran with that out-of-place feeling, like an angsty teenager thru…2 found this helpful
An interesting and fun puzzle game, doing something different with the turn based combat formula. I'm usually fairly allergic to the genre as a whole, but by using it as the vehicle for a puzzle game, the dev has actually managed to make it work. You are given a series of challenges, and you need to come up with the correct attacks and moves to do to accomplish the goal, which I find more fun than the usual kill em all gameplay of turn based battle games. That said there are still a fair number of flaws to the game, and sometimes it feels like you got lucky instead of coming up with the exact correct solution to the puzzle, but I'm not quite sure what could be done about that. The tutorial is also not as extensive as I feel the game needs, although it comes with a manual (which for some reason isn't in the manual section of the game page?) which I feel is required reading for the puzzles to be fun.1 found this helpful
A simple turn based "card" game thats one sprite change away from being a touhou game. ]Story You play as a not shrine maiden who patrols her city exterminating invading monsters and closing their portals. ]Gameplay Every turn you get 3 of a specific "card" and killing monsters gives you a random card determined when the monster spawns in. You then use these cards to unlock abilities, power said abilities or create an item. Then just do whatever the current goal is to complete the level. ]Time Unless I missed something a full playthrough took me just over four hours. ]Verdict A nice little 15$ game that was fun and didnt overstay its welcome.1 found this helpful
I've not played too much yet, but the core gameplay feels solid once you get the hang of it. The graphics are cute, and overall it's reasonably fun. I like the main character. She's fun and doesn't beat around the bush. The only thing she's beating (and kicking) are rabbits, as she should be.1 found this helpful
It's pretty janky, but core gameplay is decent. The concept of jRPG battler/puzzle game is pretty interesting, however it has some issues. Since order of enemies and alchemy elements is random you'll sometimes have near unwinnable battle, sometimes you will be showered with resources and sometimes you will just sit and tank there for dozens of minutes waiting for proper element to spawn. Gameplay is fun but it doesn't feel very balanced. Writing is pretty good, I didn't care much about the background story, but Lumi's journey and her lines got a few chuckles out of me. Music is good, didn't get tiresome even after a while, but the bossfight theme could use better audio balancing as it's way too loud compared to other songs. As mentioned at the beginning there is some weird jank. Backing out of menu doesn't return you to the game, you have to go back to menu and press continue. Skip turn button requires you to press that button twice rather than skip -> confirm which takes a while to get used to. Once I had game hardlock on me which resulted with loss of progress afterwards which was pretty annoying considering it happened right after one of the bossfights. There are some other …1 found this helpful
Nice retro graphics. Catchy BGM. Cute MC design AND voice. Fun puzzle fights and gimmicks so far, the dialogues are also unexpectedly fun. 10/10 would recommend, should come back later to make a more detailed review.1 found this helpful
