Since there were no reviews, I gave it a shot. It works out of the box with a xbox controller but you may want to tweak the controls to your liking. It reminds me of the old microsoft combat simulator. I have an old logitech 3d pro that I want to try with it too. Do not see why it would not work.37 found this helpful
Nostalgic early 00'S flight sim at its finest. I love everything about this game and have since it came out over 20 years ago. Similar to Sturmovik, but simpler and smoother flight mechanics, at this price you gotta give it a chance19 found this helpful
I really wanted to love this game as a trip down memory lane. However the lack of joystick support makes it unplayable. Game also crashed within the first 5 minutes. :( Please take a little more effort MicroProse. You were better than this back in the day.2 found this helpful
Kinda reminds me of Red Baron 3D but with a WW2 setting. similar campaign options focused around the Battle of Britain with an Axis or Allies campaign featuring a lot of kit. I think it's closer to an arcade game than a simulation game but it's still good fun. It works with modern Joysticks if you enable them in your Game Controllers settings (if windows user). My T.Flight Hotas4 works just fine with this with no fiddling needed. For its price I'd say it's fun.2 found this helpful
The History Channel: Battle of Britain – World War II 1940 delivers a classic style of aerial combat experience that focuses on accessible dogfighting and historical atmosphere rather than hardcore simulation complexity. Developed by iEntertainment and published by MicroProse Software, the game revisits one of the most significant air campaigns of World War II, placing players directly into the conflict between the Royal Air Force and the German Luftwaffe. Instead of attempting to become an ultra-realistic simulator filled with intimidating controls and technical systems, the game embraces a more approachable design philosophy that prioritizes action, cinematic battles, and historical presentation. From the beginning, the game succeeds at creating the feeling of participating in wartime aerial operations. Flying over the English countryside while enemy bombers fill the skies creates an exciting sense of scale, especially during large dogfight encounters where fighter planes weave through clouds and tracer fire lights up the battlefield. The game may not feature cutting-edge graphics, but the visual style still captures the atmosphere of World War II aviation effectively enough to …1 found this helpful
Tried to run it multiple times, system specs should be compatible, but despite verifying files and even restarting steam, game only shows a black screen with the mouse icon set in it's loading ring status. Task manager even stated the application was not responding, and application could only quit out when forcefully ended via task manager, not even an Alt-F4 could quit the application.
